You are the one who only had a few dreads right?
I'm glad you've decided to do the whole thing.

    How did they come about?

Yes I was the guy that only had a few!

Basically it just dawned to finally do em... It was sort of something that I had to wait until I was ready for, and I was finally ready for em.

I went in and had them back combed and what is called a "dread perm" which is basically a super nasty inorganic evil way to get them done, but shit, they look good. so no complaints.

I imagine the texture of the permed v the nonpermed will be pretty different

i got mine done the same way, with a dread perm, its really unnecessary, but they do look really nice untill loose hair starts to come out and what not, but thats what happens.

Before I Decided To Go Natural, I Was Advised To Do A Dready Perm.

I Didn't Go With The Idea.......

(1)..Because My Hair Is Fine, And Years Ago When I Had It Permed, It

Started To Snap Off Within A Month...:(.

(2)..Because The Quotes I Received To Do It, Ranged Between $600-00

    And $800-00 *plus* Dollars....

So I Decided To Go Natural, And My 11th Month Mark Comes Up In 3

    Days Time.

The Total Cost Being, $6-00 For Two 1kg Boxes Of Baking Soda...:D.

    Cheers Glen.

Nah, I'd Say Leave It, Perm's Eventually Fall Out Anyway, And Hopefully

The Resultant Shape Of The Hair, Will Lead To The Eventual Formation

Of Dreads By The Natural Way....:).

    Cheers Glen.

Jesus Christ! 800 fuckin dollars! Are you kidding me?!?

Is there people actually paying anywhere close to that? No fucking way. They would have to perm my hair with gold for that much.

hahaha thank you Domikatetrix, your a beautiful lady yourself! and after I got them permed (which cost me 250, or everyone that's wondering), I bought some knotty boy tightening gel which I used now and then to keep my locks progressing with health, not to mention to keep them smelling good.

No wax though to heavy >.<

I also want to say something on the subject of natural dreading. I have SO MUCH immense respect for anyone that is taking that trip. I have what one could call a hairstyle that looks like dreadlocks, you HAVE dreadlocks. Now I love my baby dreads, don't get me wrong, but seriously, it is such a respectable undergoing thati I'm inspired every day by you guys to keep my locks growing long, and not to trim them for a million bucks. This is what worked easily for me, Minneapolis (where I'm from) was the first city to ever offer dread perms so they are super easy, and fairly cheap, to get here.

    Much love to all!

why does a regular perm cost about $50 and a magical dreadie perm cost 5 times that much? that should be the first sign that locticians are charlatans out to get your money.

    $50! for a regular perm?!

I had no idea. People never cease to amaze me.

So I could go get my hair permed........or I could pick up an eighth and twist up a dooby.

    Hhmmm
