I'm gonna complain, but I'll make it fast I swear. I'm so tired of this town I live in and the people! I live in upper East Tennessee, and it's like living in the 50's sometimes. People are so closed minded, and it seems like everyone's life goal after high school is to get married and have kids. Granted, I hope that happens for me someday, but there is seemingly no desire in anyone around here to have any other experiences! I'm dying to get away from here but it's a little scary to just up and leave everything you know. I don't expect to go out and change the world, but I would like to let the world change me a little bit. I'd like for my life to be defined by more than fitting the mold of this town that's about sixty years behind the rest of the world.

    Alright, I'm good now. :)

Yeah, travelling is a good idea. It doesn't even have to be far, but it will show you what places are out there, and build up your confidence in leaving.

NOOO man, you don't want to come here to ny. Avoid this place, its to expensive. anyway, well what are your goals in life? maybe before having a family one day, you should try college? maybe major in something that interests you? I am now finding out the hard way that it sucks to go into a job everyday that you cannot stand nor have any interest in.

If NYC and Amsterdam are a bit far for a weekend jaunt, you might try Newport.

Id say take the chance...as u may in the future regret that u never took the chance to experience something new...u may end up being even more fond of Tennessee or create a new life that stratifies more of your requirements….

I myself was afraid to leave home when the opportunity developed...tho i am thrilled that i have done so….and it’s the best thing ive ever done in my life..i have learnt so much about myself (eventho…im just about 2hours away from home)…Its just really great being independent and having adapted well to a new environment…

Strive to make life the way you want it to be…

or just consider what I have said as complete nonsense… :D:D:)

I know how you feel, im in SC and its the same way. I cant wait to get outa here!
When I finished HS I took time off and traveled the country, not with the goal of moving, but to see other places. I think after doing that it was easier for me to pack everything I own in my car and take off to move.
Even if you start by taking weekend trips, you'll see other places and get an idea of what you like. Asheville prob isnt that far from you, and thats a great place.
Or talk to people on here, see what other places are like, pick one, save some money and go!
Just listen to your heart when going to new places. I have always known within 5min if i liked a place, and I was always rite. Unfortanatly I didnt listen to myself when I came to Charleston and I stayed, now I kick myself in the ass for it.

I think most everyone feels as you do at some time or another. Most of us feel a need to shake things up from time to time, get out of our comfort zone, have new experiences, etc.

And you're right ... it can be a little scary. Have a good plan and make sure you have the important bases covered before you go. You don't want to find yourself in a strange city with no job and no money and no prospects. Make sure you have something to fall back on.

The best of luck in your journey :)

Maybe consider going away for school or some type of volunteer program. You'll get the change to live in a new city and you'll be in an environment where you can meet new people with similar interests.
