alot of people think they're too depressing or what not, but i think they put some of the best music out there today. it's so melodic (and yeah, they do have their weird moments), and if you actually break their music down into chord progressions and such, it makes you realize how hard it is. i always like to consider them the beethoven of today's music. they're not horribly popular because of their music, but it just tops (almost) anything else out today... can't wait for their next album, whenever it's gonna be.

I like some of their stuff a lot, and then really don´t like some stuff as well. I like all of their straight up alterna-rock like the Bends, but then I don´t like more than half of OK computer. I like that they are dark and pretty at the same time, an excellent combination. I could do without their rambling songs like Paranoid Android etc. but I love stuff like the creepy song about the black eyed angel swimming...whatever that ones called, the black eyed angels death song? that can´t be it.

love radiohead. alot of people hear hail to the theif (their newest album) and think thats all their music is...a bunch of subliminal non sequiters that sound amazing lol....but i mean their earlier albums are much more laid back and less confusing for the "Average" listener (ie no one on hipforums is an average listener) but their songs convey so much emotion and the lyrics are unbelievable (like creep, fake plastic trees) thom yorke...genius. enough said.

thom yorke = genious, i agree...

i first got into them by listening to HTTT, it was the only album i had for a while, and it was all i listened to during the summer of 2003. but once i got their other albums, i realized how powerful they were. i can't say that i just like their earlier stuff or their newer stuff... i just like them all around. and the "average listener" thing, you hit the nail on the head. that's why their biggest hit is creep. it's so not 21st century radiohead... ;)

seamonster, i'm gonna have to disagree with you on paranoid android. that's actually one of my favorite songs... :)

I love Radiohead, though many of my friends find the music to be depressing or too strange. I passed on an opportunity to see them perform in New Orleans last year, and I still regret it. I also find Kid A and OK Computer to be great albums for 'arts and crafts' time at a summer camp I work at- mainly with children from low-income homes and broken families. You can almost see the wheels of creativity turning in their little heads while they work. Plus, Radiohead is a great alternative to the shit that's played on the radio. I'd rather see a kid bobbin' his head to "Idioteque" than "Freak-a-leak" any day. :)

They are so overrated. I just can't get into these pseudo-experimental poster boys for the "look how sophisticated we are" crowd of Spin Magazine readers. These guys are a corporate, mainstream band, parading as a groundbreaking avant-garde band, when they're really just a bunch of elitist poseurs. They do have some good songs, but nothing I would judge on the basis of originality or creativity. The one thing I do know is that they have some songs that are rather palatable and sometimes melodic, though rarely -- nothing more.

i've heard this type of opinion before... now i'm not trying to start an arguement or anything, but what does corporate have to do with the music they make?

Radiohead are fantastic, I've said it before and I'll say it again, how many bands can change their sound so drastically from album to album and actually make it work, I love Pablo Honey, The Bends and Ok Computer. When they brought out Kid A it fucking blew me away. I've always been into electronica like Aphex Twin, Squarepusher and other stuff on the warp label and rephlex label and to hear an indie band make electronica and doing it so well was amazing, then came Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief both fantastic albums aswell. Only band who have changed their sound so much and as successfully have been the amazing Primal Scream.
