    Hi guys,

My girl spent 2-3days backcombing for me,

my sections are 3/4" and i have straight hair..

My concern is that some dreads i can spread apart if i dig my fingers in and pull.

obviously i wont completley pull them out, but i am worried that this is not right.

or, that they are probs fine, and they along with the rubber bands and dreadheadhq stuff, they will tighten and lock up.
i have pictures on hand aswell.

    look forward to any advice

    Alex

they probably will be fine if you leave out the products and rubber bands.

I Would Most Certainly Advise Against Placing Explosives In Your New

Locks, Trust Me, There Are Safer Ways To Start Dreads....:D.

There is no rule for how loose, or tight they will be after you backcombed them. If you do it loose, they'll loosen quicker, but you will probably do less damage to your hair, do it tighter, they might stay together for a bit longer, but'll come loose anyway. Don't worry about it, it's normal. They will loosen in the early months before they start to mature.

As for the products if you use them you'll probably get fooled into thinking they are tightening, (assuming you use wax) but they won't be really. If you really want to use the products you can, the shampoo is ok, albeit extremely overpriced and is a pain to rinse out, if you want to use it I recommend diluting it in another bottle. The same goes for the accelerator it's just an overpriced sea salt mixture, it won't hurt them though. The lock pepper is junk, same goes for the wax, butter (or whatever it is) and the bands, steer clear of it all, unless you want to fuck your hair up.

yeah, in all seriousness they sound like they havent tightened up yet. leave them be and let them mature a little and they should be good. remember the key to dreads is time. and lots of it.

cheers, we literally just established this...

    anyway
3-6 months is a fairly good benchmark for them to form properly. sometimes less, sometimes much longer. Everyones individual.
