Stop me if this has been done before, but what would your ultimate supergroup be? Anyone, living or dead, can be in it. It dosn't have to be just technically good musicians either, it could also be what styles they'd bring to the table.

For me it'd have to be:
    Manyard of Tool - Vocalist
Brent Hinds of Mastodon - Guitarist
Jimi Hendrix - Second Guitarist (cliche i know, but meh)
Steve Harris of Iron Maiden - Bassist
Thomas Pridgen of Mars Volta - Drummer
Jon Lord of Deep Purple - Organ/Synths

    :D

I'm pretty sure one of the first threads I ever started on this site was this same question but this is a different band then I posted then.

    Drums - Martin Lopez (ex-Opeth)
    Bass - Alex Katunich (ex-Incubus)
Guitar - Billy Howedel (A Perfect Circle)
    Guitar - Mark Engles (Dredg)
Vocals - Jeff Buckley (yeah, he could rock out too. I think he never got a chance to show that as much as he could have)

Not your stereotypical list. Actually all quite jazzy musicians, there's no dominant soloist either. However I don't go for that style of guitar playing, thus I would like to see this lot jam together at least.

And yes, I know Jeff is dead, but feck it.

Buckley on vocals great choice, yes he can rock out too. I got a live DVD where he does mc5 'kick out the jams' cover and 'eternal life' is pretty hard too.

Yeah, I think he had a more diverse voice than people realized. I've got that DVD and I think he was remarkable, as vocalists go easily one of my favourites.

Eternal Life I think was probably the start of something he would have explored. He was big on his Hendrix and Zeppelin so would have gone harder somewhere down the line.

I read somewhere that Thom Yorke was changed overnight after seeing Buckley play and that The Bends is heavily Buckley influenced.
