So I really want to get a star on my upper outer thigh (right) and I have decided I want to have it as a scarification piece.

Can anybody tell me if this is a safe thing to do myself and if so what's the best way to go about it?

I have no idea where to go to get this type of thing done over here. I have no real pain fear and I just want to make sure I don't go and cut an area that will bleed like a bitch or do any damage...

    THANKS!!

well, in my opinion it would be safer to go to a pro, due to risk of infection and the fact that the area is near your femoral artery. just for your own well being i suggest this, but it is possible to do it yourself given you disinfect the tool used, stay away from the femoral, and have a tolerance for pain that is such that you wont screw up

I did not know about that! All I can say is ouch.

But yeah, I'd suggest getting it done professionally.

dont do it with a regular kitchen knife, or even a razor blade... get yourself a surgical scalpel for this sort of thing. its a lot sharper and will make it easier/less painful.

its not something i'd ever do to myself or anyone else, but i've seen people do it. its nasty stuff if you go too deep.

    good luck

Hmm OK, thanks for all the advice you guys :) I think if I do still go ahead with it I'll definately get someone else to do it. I have no idea what the femoral artery is and I feel pretty scared of busting something up that could do me serious damage!

Anyone know if there's places that do this? Would you just go to a tattoo shop?
