Hello, I was thinking about teaching English in India. Is this possible cause I can't find any percentage of English speaking folks there. I mostly want to do this to strengthen my knowledge of eastern philosophy. Is this possible basically and would it be hard if i just got out of college?
According to Wikipedia, 23.18% of the population of India speaks English. That's more than 232 million people. I just Googled "teaching English India." One of the searches that came up while I was typing those words in was "problems teaching English India." For starters, there isn't much money to be made teaching in India. I would suggest that you check out as many TESOL (Teaching English as a Second or Other Language) or English as a Second Language (ESL) Web sites and forums as possible. Is teaching English in India (or elsewhere) possible if you just got out of college? Yes, but it may not be as easy in India as in some of the countries in eastern Asia (Japan, Korea, etc.) If you have a TESOL certificate of some kind, that makes it easier to get a job and to make some sort of living.
