Stressful Parent Relationships

alright, I'm 17, my mother moves alot so she let me live with my grandparents, and my grandmother is basically my only parent. She is very nice, but she is a control freak. My father passed when I was three and my grandmother always compares me to my father which breaks her heart when I don't act like him. For instance, I'm much more independent than he was and all that constant "wanting to be involved" thing that my grandmother does really pissess me off. When I tell her she gets all pissed, sad, and goes right back to doing whatever the hell it was that pissed the next day. Its an endless cycle.

HOW DO I DEAL WITH THIS? (Without anyone getting too pissed off)

 

You continue to grow up and be a teenager and then you are going to be 25 and look back and smile.

Seriously, from what you have said she is trying to guide you as any parent figure will do.

You are not really appreciating the finer points of that, as any teenager is not going to.

Try to compromise when you can and try to be patient. Think of this also from her spot in life as she must love you or she would not be willing to raise you. She is doing her best and from your post you are also doing your best.

Of course she wants to be involved, she cares.

My daughter is 15 and one day we were having a disagreement about something age appropriate and she stopped me in my tracks. I asked her why she had to make an issue out of little things and instead did not pick her battles more wisely......her answer was Mom we are not suppose to get along all the time anymore.

So my answer to you is that you may not always get along the best right now but that will change and when it does you don't want to regret what you may of said or done.
