I mean yea, you can. But for good vegan food that has variety and tastes good, it takes some money.

Well to answer your question I went vegan because although you don't eat meat, the animal is beat brutally, mistreated, and fed horribly to get dairy/eggs.
By going vegan you are not supporting any of that, and you are way healthier too =)

One thing I always tell fellow vegan new comers is this:
Vegetarian is a diet, Vegan is a lifestyle

becoming vegan heightens your life force energy. Our bodies were not meant to consume the milk of a cow, or any other animal. It's meant for the baby. Cows have four stomachs to digest it, we do not, thus we are weakening our body since it has to go through the process of breaking it down. Those ads about drinking milk to make your bones stronger are capitalistic lies to make you support the industry. milk does indeed have calcium, but it's cancelled out by the calcium robbed from other parts of our body need to digest dairy.

    Milk is actually pretty great.

Our lungs weren't designed to inhale the burning hot smoke of plant material either, but smoking weed is great too.

it tastes great, but dairy isn't great for the body. He is looking for reasons to go vegan. I'm not trying to convert anyone who isn't vegan into a vegan, I'm just trying to help him out. I've read a few books on balancing your pH, and dairy is one of the most acidic of the food groups, next to meat.
Here, I don't feel like searching arounnd for a link, but I'll give you the first one I find. http://www.peertrainer.com/LoungeCommunityThread.aspx?ForumID=1&ThreadID=45289
But if you like consuming dairy, by all means, do what makes you happy :)

cows have the stomachs for one reason [btw, it's actually one stomach with 4 parts]

    grass

the first one is called a rumen, it's filled with microbes that break down cellulose in grass

without that, no grass [the others are for creating cud, processing chewed cud, and for digesting]

    grass, grass, grass

which is why milk is so shitty in amerika, they feed the cows corn

[not to mention the other garbage in their feed]

geez, don't people ever read about anything before they post?

Sigh, that is so. But they do essentially have 4 "stomachs" since the food goes through 4 parts as opposed to one. that's why they say that. Milk is easily broken down in their stomachs. In ours, not so much.
Why don't YOU read something before you post? This is a forum for vegans and vegetarians. If you have a problem with someone being vegan, go somewhere else.
I wouldn't say it if I didn't know it was so. And if you could prove me wrong on the subject, which you can't, I would apologize and admit I was wrong.

I have not read any specifically pertaining to dairy production. But where I got some of my information was from this book. It talks about all aspects of food and how to heighten life force energy. It's not a diet book, although it looks that way: http://www.detoxtheworld.com/books-raw-food-life-force-energy.php

Other sources are from random books about our capitalist country, which often mentions the food industry (you would not believe what is in our food!).

i do not have a problem with vegans [note my post above your 1st post], i have a problem with misinformation

vegetarianism/veganism is suspect enough in this meaty world, without having people make things up to support it

Vegetarianism/veganism is nothing more than a life style/moral choice, there's nothing suspect about not eating animal products, just as there isn't for people who do eat animal products. The great thing about nature is anyone who eats a good assortment of food can have a healthy diet even if meat, dairt and ect are not included, or if they are.

Veganism takes a lot more then simple vegetarianism though. Not eating meat is easy. Not eating any animal products can be quote hard, you have to ask yourself if you're willing to commit to that. A LOT of foods you eat now will be excluded, and not just the basics like eggs and cheese. For example, most chocolate, and a surprising amount of sugar based candy too you would not be able to eat, as there will be cow milk in it. Most pre-packaged boxes of macaroni and cheese would be out, any ice cream you didn't but yourself is out. Most types of cookies, out. Cream cheese and butter, out. Ect. Basically unless you make it yourself, you're going to have to check the ingredients to make sure it's vegan, or buy something that is specifically marketed to vegans. This is where money comes in too. Rice, beans, pasta, staple things like that are really cheap, but if you want to keep eating the variety of foods that most people in the western world enjoy eating, you'll have to buy products made specifically for vegans, which are more expensive.

yes, from the person who said:

funny, we're mammals, you might want to see what that word means

okay, i'll assume that you meant cow's milk, even though that's not what you said

the reason a calf drinks milk is two-fold:

one - same reason we drink milk when young, it's got lots of fats and protein and stuff we need when we're young

two - the bacteria an adult cow needs to digest grass is not present in calves at birth, they get that from mom

and again, since you seem to be unspeakably dense:

the four-sectioned stomach is for the digestion of grass, not milk

    though i suppose you won't understand this time either . . .

i agree 100% with you. You can eat dairy in moderation, like with anything else, and you should be fine.
And it's not so much expensive as it is a pain in the ass.
