I've always wanted to be able to draw good pencil skecthes, nothing too complicated, but kind of neat looking anyway. The only problem is, that I'm shit lol, so is there anyway I can start to improve? Or is it just a case of keeping at it? I am just about to start doing my A levels, and art isn't one of them and I can't change that now, so I need a method that I can learn on my own.
there is a million sites,,,,just search something like ''how to draw a face' and you will be rewarded instantly with tons of easy peasy step by step instructions
Somebody gave me a book called "Drawing for Dummies" and I was like uh whatever but it actually had a lot of the same techniqies that I learned in my level 1 drawing class. There were pictures accompanied by explanations. Something like that might help too.

draw people on the train... quick ones, just 30 seconds to draw their face, neck, shoulders... all that you can get before they move too much. do those real quick, no more than a minute or two, and just keep doing that for 15 to 20 minutes. i do it for the commute to school. its a good primer in gesture drawing, which is the basis for any good figure drawing. just keep at it, doing something is better than nothing. so just draw.
like i told another member, just draw hands, faces, and shapes different positions, different expressions, different shading. as long as you're drawing you cant go wrong, so just keep practicing.
