I've been sitting here, for so long now Been catching fish, over my bow My boat has rocked, from side to side For many days, and many nights Some fish I've kept, some got away I'm leaving now, for I can't stay I know another boat, will come along soon He will want to fish, he will need some room I'm getting tired now I'm reeling in my line Despite what youth may say The fish don't get bitter over time The river has been good to me It is getting shallower now The sky is orange, the water black The sun's gone down, sunk then drowned Remember you who fishes here It isn't how many you catch So take your time and paddle slow Always give some fish back
