Oh no, it wasn't just apparently, it was empirical. We were doing group work on Chernobyl and none of the 5 other people in it knew where Britain was.

Or the best line "I don't get it, I see Russia and Ukraine and shit, but where the hell is the Soviet Union on this map? Isn't it supposed to be around there?"

Lol. I guess we all have gaps in our knowledge.
5 people do make a fair representation of the US as a whole, apparently.

It's nice to be wanted.

OK, this is where I say, "Well shit. Stupid fucking racists."

I finally got my computer fixed (Be very careful with warranty repair service, people. Office Depot's warranty repair service made my computer worse. I have kind of fixed it myself, but the warranty service did not do what it was supposed to do.) to the point where I could watch that video. Obviously, the white supremacists are on the same side of this argument as I am, I just didn't realize they were the authors of SB 1070, or whatever it's called. I don't usually think the ends justify the means, but drastic times, call for drastic action. Plus I don't see anyone dropping their support for healthcare reform just because the racists at the NAACP support the bill. Racism is stupid as shit, I don't like it, but unfortunately there are going to be some retards out there. And sometimes they are going to agree with you or me, and their ain't much you can do about it. Governor Brewer signed this bill, because she wants something needs to be done. The Federal Government isn't fixing the problem. Democrats and Republicans in congress can't agree on reform. So Brewer took action. Yes, the action was quite drastic, but that's how you make change.

Do I still support the bill? Well, yes. It basically just reinforces Federal law, from what I have read. I don't see how it's unconstitutional. If a cop arrests someone and suspects him to be illegal, a quick scan of his driver's license should clear that up. Some police cars have fingerprint scanners now, in case the person doesn't have ID. I would disagree with the police detaining a person that had not committed a crime first. I definitely don't think the cops should be able to walk up to anybody and ask if they have legal papers.

I have twice been harassed by the police when I wasn't doing anything wrong, and I am a white male. Actually, one of the times, there was a warrant out for me, so I got screwed, and taken to jail on the warrant, but at the time I was committing no crime. So I know what it's like, but that's what happens when you live outside the law.

I do believe that we need to do something about the illegal immigrants. I do believe that cops should have reasonable doubt before they do anything. I have met illegals who were facing deportation, and talked to them. I felt bad, but hey, you do something illegal, you pay the price.

But isn't that part of the bill that's causing controversy?

My education is in Science, and I don't know much about Politics. But I do know one thing, Obama is doing it wrong, but I'm not much of a debater. I guess I may be an ideologue (because I like the Arizona law), but I think liberals are ideologues almost by definition. I mean, the liberals want to create this utopia where everything will be alright. You really think this is possible? For instance, you really think that when Obama's health care plan takes effect in 2014 it will work the way he says it will? You really trust him? You really think that he will create enough jobs, and get the economy going in the right direction fast enough to pay for all this spending? Not a chance.

There are many things that I don't like about Obama.

    *Increased taxes
    *That health care bill
    *Out of control spending
*Forcing the banks to make bad loans, then blaming them for the mess, then signing a bill that says who can declare bankruptcy.
*Stimulus, where if you do the math the jobs created will cost like $200,000 each, and most of those jobs are turning out to be useless, government bureaucratic jobs.
*Bobby Jindal said that Obama told him not to worry about the people who had lost their jobs due to the Oil Spill. Those people could file a claim with BP, or get unemployment checks. THEY DON'T WANT A CHECK, THEY WANT A JOB!!
*Bailouts, and the takeover of GM and Chrysler. (Yes, Bush started the Bailouts, I didn't like them then. When I heard that Citibank was taking it's Bailout money and buying executive jets, I nearly lost it.)
*And lots of little things, like the way he said the Cambridge Police acted stupidly, when he didn't have all the facts on the issue. (Plus, did you realize that he had a bunch of unpaid parking tickets from his days at Harvard. He finally paid them when he was in the Illinois Senate, but it took him a while. A little animosity, maybe.)
*How about the way they try and tell us what to do, fat people should start eating healthy, Michelle said something like dessert isn't a right. Well, yes, true, BUT IT'S NOT THE PRESIDENT'S JOB TO GET INVOLVED IN MY HEALTH. BUTT OUT!!!
*Telling the graduates at Wesleyan that their individual salvation depends on collective salvation (Sound like a communist, much?)

Did it make Kennedy a communist when he said Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country? Cause I mean that's pretty collectivist and not individualistic at all.

    In response to MadCapSyd's comments above;

The budget can be balanced without raising taxes. Lower taxes stimulates the economy, and then the actual amount of tax revenue generally increases. Also the amount of charitable donations generally increases because people have more money. A lot of the stimulus money went towards stuff that wasn't creating jobs. If the economy were stronger people would be donating money towards that stuff

There are no Americans without health care. There are about 12 million that don't have health insurance and need it, so address that situation. There are a few problems with our health care system, but that health care bill is like curing a headache by hitting yourself with a hammer. There are plenty of ways to address the problems without reworking the whole system and (IMHO) fucking it all up. Let people buy insurance across state lines, set up Health Savings Accounts, don't make it be so damn expensive to see a doctor when you don't have insurance, don't pay for illegal immigrants (And yes, I've been told by nurses that they were not allowed to ascertain someone's citizenship status. My nurse friend was told to treat the patient and they would deal with payment later. Which brings up the point that everyone does have access to a doctor.) or set up a medicaid system for the people that don't have insurance, but leave my system alone.

Out of control spending is not unique to Obama, true. Bush spent a lot as well. But Obama is spending SOOOOO much more than any other president.

Carter actually started the bad loans, with the CRA in 1977. No, maybe Obama didn't force the banks to make any bad loans, but he is blaming the current economic mess on the banks and wall street and he did sign that bill today (or maybe it was yesterday.) that said some firms are not going to be allowed to declare bankruptcy.

I don't see how the stimulus could be a difference in economic theory. I don't see how anyone could support a stimulus package when the jobs created cost $200K each. That just doesn't make any sense. And yes, it would have been nice to see more of that money go toward infrastructure. Remember when the bridge in Minneapolis collapsed? It would be nice to see money go towards making the infrastructure better. And to hire more teachers, firefighters, cops, etc. But this just comes back to my original argument; I don't trust these assholes with our money. That is my money, your money, our money they are wasting. And government always wastes money. This is my principle gripe against Obama.

Yes, some money is better than no money, true. An unemployment check does pay the rent (maybe) and put food on the table. The point is, it's just a little insulting to be told "Don't worry, you can get an unemployment check." when what you really want is a job. And that is one of Obama's problems, when faced with someone that has a problem, Obama doesn't usually handle it well.

How did the Cambridge Police act stupidly? Obama acted stupidly by commenting on an issue that he didn't have all the facts on and that wasn't any business of the president in the first place. What did officer Crowley (I think that was his name.) do that was stupid? But this was a minor incident, and a minor gripe.

Yes, there are far too many fat bastards around, I agree. I hate to go to KFC and see a family of large asses chowing down on those cholesterol grease birds. But for Michelle to lecture us on eating healthy? Come on, butt out. This is also a minor gripe. It just adds to his lack of character. The president nor his wife should lecture us one personal habits. (And no, she wasn't talking to me. I'm six foot tall and weigh 176 pounds. I'm not overweight.) If the FDA started up a campaign, that would be a different story.

Saying that individual salvation depends on collective salvation is not the same as asking people to do the right thing. If I go volunteer somewhere, or if there is a natural disaster and I go help clean up someone's destroyed house that is doing the right thing, and everybody should do that. My father is more conservative that I am, but he just spend a $40 at Office Depot on school supplies to send with his church to kids in Haiti. That is doing the right thing. Saying that our individual salvation depends on collective salvation means to me none of us is going to succeed until we all succeed. Like we need to redistribute the wealth so everybody can have some. I'm sorry, but there are going to be some people that are going to fail, and I can't let that stop me from succeeding. And you can't take my money and give it to someone else either. That is redistribution of wealth and that is socialism, or communism.

I forgot to mention before, another thing that's just not right about this man, is the people he nominates for federal positions. Most of his czars are real assholes, also.

I answered all your other stuff in this post in another thread. So, Here's a challange:

Define Communism and tell me how President Obama is a Communist.

Americans already donate more than any other people in the world by a long shot, yet we have one of the highest poverty rates in the western world, not to mention the highest income inequality. Tax rates are going up.......to what they were 9 years ago. They're going back to what they were during the boom times of the 90's, and are still lower than they were in the 60's. Lowering taxes helps if taxes are a stifling level, which they're no where near.

LMAO Access to emergency health care =/= access to health care in general.

There are about 12 million that don't have health insurance and need it

we have a mess of low-paying, unsafe, unregulated, un-unionized jobs that no american really wants to do

we have a bunch of poor people living a bit south of us who will do these jobs, but legally can't, because we won't issue them visas

seems like the word illegal only applies because the laws are stupid

seems like the best thing those minutemorons could do is go apply for all the agriculture/slaughterhouse/construction/gardening/maid/whatever shit jobs, and work under the conditions, and for the pay, that the 'illegals' do

    problem solved!
