The last paragraph floors me. I would think a 12 year old would know better than to stick gum on things, especially $1.5 million paintings.

By the way, the painting itself looks like a blob of gum.

a lot of modern art is clever, takes skill and makes a statement, can't see it in that one.
but then what do i know?
if it's worth that much money then all i can say is that a fool and his money are soon parted.

This thing is ugly. The boy knew better. I can't believe they let the parents actually discipline a child!

    Indeed..

And my original statement could hold true!!! (A 2yo could have done that kind of a painting)

I am not an art critic, nor do I have any claim to expertise in this area.

For anyone to value that work at that price, makes me want to get a whole pack of bazooka and stick it on it as well.

its pretty unanimous in this thread that this painting should be a worthless blob. However, it only took one appraiser to say that its worth one point five million dollars. I think the value comes from the artist herself having personally painted it, not the aesthetic value of the thing itself.

I mean, look at picasso. his stuff is scribbles and weird shapes and distorted faces. third graders can draw his stuff, but seeing his work is like looking straight into his demented mind.

i agree it's an ugly painting, but the kid should learn to respect other's property. or he should just not bother going out into public at all.

Sadly people values of what "GOOD" is has fallen in the last 30 years or so :(

Most act like Robots under someone else's command and thats sad!

definitley the value comes from who painted it, Im sure it was an important time in her life.. Im to lazy to Wik-it though..

but my main point is, good for the kid, If I would have known how easy kids get off when doing illegal activites, I wouldnt have been a nervous pool of sweat when it came to dealing with cops etc.

if theres any kids reading this... do some shit like this while you still can!!!
