3 days ago I decided to do my roots. There was like 2 inches of black and than my blonde dreads. So I got my regular dye and put it in. Left it the same amount of time I always do but for some fucking reason it turned out neon orange. I looked so rank I had to do something, everyone was telling me I should just bleach again and I hadn't left it in long enough. So I did and kept on checking and it just wasn't changing much at all.
I still looked ridiculous after the second and felt like such a knob walking around. I had this big bow tied round my head to try and distract people from the fact my hair looked a state. So I got home and saw this blue directions hair dye sitting on my table I'd bought a couple weeks ago to put in Riloh's hair. So I decided I'd put a little bit in to 'cool' down the colour and thought there was a chance it could look cool. I used like a 1/5th of the small tub and only left it in for 10 mins; went to wash it out: scrub scrub scrub. Came out of the shower and I looked like this:

I was just like, ooh shit. I loved my blonde dreads so much and then suddenly I did a load of idiot things to my hair when all I'd meant to do was do my effing roots. I felt so insecure and didn't know wtf to do and roots didn't seem so bad at all compared to this!
Every dread was a different colour and horrible horrible. I of course went on yahoo answers and was told to do a bleach soap cap where you mix 50/50 bleach and shampoo. I first scrubbed them in the bath with half a bottle of head and shoulders then did the cap. I so didn't think it was gonna work but after leaving it in for around 20mins and washing it out, vinigar rinsing, conditioning FINALLY my hair is back to blonde, blonder than before and my roots are lovely. THANK GOD and yahoo answers. Seriously I was freaking out. Crazy how something like hair can dictate how you feel for a couple of days. I tried my best not to let it affect me to much and outwardly I seemed fine but inside I was just ohshitohshitohshit.
anyway, so yeah-huge post but when you never do shit to your hair and then this happens and you have to spend ages on it and worrying you've fucked your dreads up...now they are soo super soft and look great. Somehow! I'll be taking good care of them from now on and no more dyes. It just ain't worth the stress.

haha yeah you'd feel like that if you thought you messed up anything you've had for so many years!

In my opinion Lux, the blue looked quiet sweeeet!

Yeah thats why I don't do my root or care if my root are black.. Seems you should have went with a higher developer. I learned that the first time I bleached, my hair was orange. The blue doesn't look horrible, I say get a higher developer I don't know how it is in your country, but I get quick blue and 40 developer and it gets the job done. I say give it a couple months then bleach, maybe use some conditioner to get some strength back. Thats just what I did when I wanted to go brighter blonde..

I dunno it didn't look too bad, some bits were nice and it would have looked nicer if I'd used the whole tub to get an even blue through and no weird green/grey bits.
I've had coloured hair before and just get bored of it so quick and I wear a lot of denim and have a thing with blue on blue haha.
Blonde is my comfort colour, I always have loved blonde hair and blonde dreads are the best in my opinion. When they were blue and brown you couldn't see the textures as much as you can when their blonde.
Eugh those pictures gross me out. It looks like someone has vommed on top of my head and I look super pissed in the first one haha. I could not get that blue da bi de dabidah song out of my head either..

Hahah lol I love that song. Yes I agree blonde is one of my Favs. Yeah you could go with another tube or bleach again later, Feel ya on that I get bored to, but I am sticking with the blonde and dark brown. Sorry you got such a mess with the blue, I think its a tricky colour.

This is my dreads after a trim and another bleach, my roots are a little orange lol.. but I don't mind the mix colors.I never get a bright blonde but good enough. The three on the left are as blonde as I can go

    It looked pretty cool :)
fades from green to blue to blonde (although I know that probably wasn't desired)
glad you've got it sorted though.

I think it looked pretty nice with the blue in there. Glad you could fix it though.

I like the top you are wearing.

I think the blue is nice from behind but is way too strong in the roots, which is a pity, my real question is why are you dying your sons hair, isnt he a baby still??

Once I was dying my hair and my son was 1 and walked into the bathroom and when I went to shoo him out a little hair dye must have gotten in his hair and he had this orangey brown spot for awhile. I felt like the worst ever.

I put temp dye in my daughters hair all the time but she asks for it. She's going through a stage where she's really experimenting with her look. I think it's cute.

I remember when we were young my brothers both had the hair cut where it's short but spike up at the very front, and my oldest brother bleached his spiked-up fringe blonde, and my other brother dyed his green :p

There is a slightly irrelevant anecdote for you.

I think it's awesome (that you give her that freedom).

Not all dyes are dyes per se. A lot of the fun colors available to the public don't have ammonia or alot of the other chemicals that make hair dye bad news bears for little ones.
