i had to carry a lab about two miles yesterday, bloody dogs are heavier than they look (it sprained it's leg, vet says s'fine so all good anyways)

i seen 'em go for as much as £500 in the north east.....typically about £250 - £300 tho'

can get as many cross-breed labs (which are better animals anyway) as ya want for the price of a pint tho'

There is all kinds of retriever rescue places. They usually have a pretty good screening process, some involving a home visit. Then its $50-200 and you get a pure bred and you get to rescue a doggie in need too :)
I see em in the paper with papers and all anywhere from $400-3000 depending on bloodline and stuff. Heck Ive seen some special stud for $7000!!

From a breeder, between 800-1000 depending on the breeder.

The Humane Society here charges a ridiculous amount for strays, it really irks me.

Near where I live (country) we have a couple who do rescue for strays as they are often dumped as people think that farmers want their pets. :( They only ask for donations to cover the shots. Wish there were more people like them in the world.

Oh yeah, my dog is the heaviest thing ever! Surprising how heavy they actually are.

Now, that would be fun. I'm going go out now and see if I can!

I've noticed that purebred labs seem have a lot of health problems. I'd still get one if I could have a dog, because they are great for families.

My brother just had to put his down. She had fatty lumps all over her, hip problems, was deaf, and the vet thinks she likely had cancer at the end. She was 12, and the other lab they had years ago was pretty much the same.
She was having pooping issues, too, as in walking along and poop was falling out of her.

    My sil's lab has epilepsy.
