heyy. im just super confused do you have to dress like a hippy to be considered a hippy? Like im in the 10th grade and in kinda just coming into who i am and finding out who i am.A lot of people consider me to be kinda a hippy because of my peace and love beliefs. I dont dress like and i was wondering if that makes me a poser ? Like i would like to consider myself a hippy.
You need a standard-issue offical hippie uniform, purchased from an authorized hippie uniform outlet. You are also required to say "far out" and "outasight" at least once in every sentence. There are quite a few other requirements to maintain your official hippie status, but I don't have time to list them all here - didn't you get your manual yet?
dress how ya wanna... there's nothing wrong with using clothes to give people an impression of who ya are (unless it's for nefarious purposes of course)... poser is such a stupid term, it's like putting a social block on self experession *adjusts rhinocerous costume*
As long as you have some rank armpit stench rockin' you're fine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97JXkUK6NsM"]YouTube- Grateful Dead "Dancing In The Street" live 1967 San Fran. it doesn't matter what you wear just as long as you are there
if i understand your question. you want to know, what the "offical hippie uniform" is... i don't think there is any such animal! maybe corporate or madison avenue "hippies" have a uniform. i don't think thoes exist either!:sifone:
You know the "Hippie" style, like any other was a period piece. A decade earlier, beatniks wore sandals, sloppy jeans, sweatshirts and berets. This style would hardly be noticed in the early '70s and wouldn't be noticed at all in New Orleans French Quarter, Greenwich Village or S.F. But wearing this outfit today will get notice, and is as relevant as wearing a powdered wig under a three-sided hat in the 18th century, or a stovepipe hat in the 19th. Clothing is basically costume, whether current or period. BTW, this pic was taken in 1989 and not what I normally wore. While the clothes were mine from a couple decades past, at this time it was a costume for an art class. (Oh yeah, the hair is a wig - by '89 the hair was not too thick on top, so more convenient to keep short)
Nah, clothes aren't important. Personally I just wear jeans and t shirts most the time, but I am drawn to some hippie style stuff like this beatles shirt I got.
Pictured is the basic hippie uniforms - male and female. Most items are available at "Hippies Are Us" located in malls around the country.
