She was in need of food and water, I took her in and took care of her. My boyfriend and I decided to name her Sprinkles because when I found her the fountain in the front yard that water was sprinkling on her face and we thought it was so cute I had her for 5 days. She past away 7.30.10 don't know what went wrong. We miss her terribly, she was so innocent and loving.Rest In Peace Sprinkles.
poor lil' mite you shoulda left it where it was dude, if it was still alive it's parents were prolly still feeding it ......... lotsa fledglings hop outa the nest a bit early, they usually best left alone until you are postive it's been orphaned
Sweetleaf, you're in the UK, aren't you? In The States, that house sparrow (We're talking Passer domesticus, right?) is a non native invasive species...an avian weed....especially dangerous to our bluebirds (Sialia sp.) You will probably think I'm some sort of monster, but I would have fed it to the cat.
When I first saw her i was debating on leaving her alone but the thing is that i have 5 cats and they all live outside and i knew for a fact that Sprinkles would have been killed I didn't want to take any chances so I took her in. I don't think I gave her too much food I tried my hardest to have good take care of her, I spent most of my time with her and I bought her baby sparrow formula specially for her I fed her every hour for 3 days then i started feeding her every 2 hours, I would take her outside where I found her to let her walk around and be out side. She loved being around me anywhere I seriously thought she would make it WanderingturnupII: No I live in the U.S, I dont have the heart to feed a bird to a cat.
humans are an invasive species.. Feed them all to sharks... Im just being silly, but I do understand the turnips point.. but other management efforts can be taken to assure all species coexist somewhat equally..
I posted to your earlier thread about birds & cats....I put food out for the wild birds, and end up feeding mostly house sparrows....and am aware of the irony of a blond haired blue eyed descendant of Hengist & Horsa suggesting non natives be fed to the cats.
I've seen sparrows that small eating fleshy worms. That stuff you were feeding looked like porridge and the little thing looked to be choking after eating. I'm sorry for your loss though and I see you tried hard.
