hey all my lovely spouse and son both have b-days in December. they both want to see Treasures of Egypt at the museum. Now, I said it would have to be a combined B-day/holiday gift and this was met with "Cool." from both. I am suprising both with some things, a poker book for the Love of my Life and a Balck sabbath CD and a Foamy the Squirrel shirt for the "little man" should I think about one more small giftie or is this enough? I could make a culinary treat of your choice certificate, too. The other family members are getting bath salts, tree ornaments and cream cheese mints or cookies. $$ is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy tight here.
Not cheap at all. I think people have lost sight of what the holiday is about. I bet if we got rid of gift giving we would all enjoy Christmas a lot more! Give what you can.
You are not being cheep at all. I know how you feel. You just want to do more than possible to show your love for them. I really would not worry about it though................ ~namaste~
I don't think that it's cheap at all. Afterall, it is the thought that counts, and the love that you show. I know how you feel about wanting to do more for your loved ones. If I could, I'd give mine the world. Of course, that's certainly not possible. I think your gifts sound lovely. Big hugs...
It really is the thought that counts; your men will just appreciate the fact that you thought to get them more than the dreaded "combined" birthday and holiday gift. I once asked my best friend, who was born on December 21, if he really did get combined gifts, and if it that bothered him--he said it really does! But it's one of those things you don't complain about, because the person giving the gift was thoughtful enough to do so, combined or not. More times than not, he said, it was a really great gift he got, but (to a kid, especially) it feels good to know that your birthday is deserving of a separate celebration/gift/etc, no matter how small.
Ryvre willow, my son's bday is Dec. 21 and he has never cared as long as we had a birthday and a Hanukkah & yule celebration separately
