    Salt
    Movie Blurb by Shale

Well, for those of you that go to action movies and see the trailers of upcoming, you know this is the kind of movie you want to see. Lots of action and espionage intrigues, good guys versus bad guys and you don't always know which is which.

That is what this movie is about, and even opens with a woman being brutalized in a North Korean military prison accused of being a spy. Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) gets traded for one of their spies and is free - not because her agency the CIA pushed for it but because her boyfriend Mike Krause (August Diehl) an internationally known arachnologist was going to the press with her disappearance and they thought it would be too high profile. That part was actually history.

Flash to the present where Evelyn and Mike are married and she is now an office worker in the CIA with her boss Ted Winter (Liev Schreiber) when Orlov (Daniel Olbrychski) a Russian defector walks in claiming to have information about sleeper agents in the U.S. about to launch an attack by killing the current Russian president. This brings out Peabody (Chiwetel Eliofor) acounter-espionage agent for the interrogation.

Everything about Olov checks out when he claims that Evelyn Salt is a Russian double agent. This puts her on the spot and when it appears no one believes she is a clean CIA agent, she splits. I mean she did a Lara Croft on the agency and got out of a ungetouttable place. (She also manages to get into ungetinable places).

Thus the rest of the movie takes off with all the action scenes you saw in the trailers and more, like leaping from hi-way overpasses onto semi trailers while being shot at. Stealing a dudes motorcycle and taking off eventually leaving all her pursuers in a major traffic jam.

She gets cornered a couple times, even caught but this is one super agent that keeps getting away from the most impossible places. Better than Bourne or Bond.

I am not a double agent

This is a real cold-war era spy versus spy type movie. Oh, the cold war ended? Well, this is carry-over by some old bad guys from the days when children were being trained in the Soviet Union to infiltrate American society and blend in, waiting to be called. All thru the movie we get glimpses of Salt and her connection to this time in the Soviet Union when her parents were with the consulate there. (BTW, Olov escaped from the CIA headquarters too, using a shoe knife like Rosa Klebb the mean lesbian SMERSH agent in the Bond flick From Russia With Love.)

Is Salt a Russian sleeper agent or a CIA agent who seems to be more highly skilled than her coworkers? It looks like she is doing all the things that Olov said she would. So we never know during the whole movie, whether to feel good that Salt is getting out of another impossible situation or if she will eventually be brought down by Ted and Peabody before she does major damage.

It was one exciting ride. You'll enjoy it.

Do they have cameras that bob up and down whilst they film the action ?

Thats my pet hate in movies these days they don't fix the cameras to tracks or cranes I guess thats cheaper way to make a movie but for me its very annoying and unwatchable.

I think it's supposed to create a realistic effect. Like you're actually there, running with the characters or whatever.
