This will be my introduction!! I'm mostly a regular person and I like to read all those books that you're supposed to read to be well cultured. I'm starting at a North Carolina state school in a couple weeks. I joined because this seemed like one of the lesser known but still upkept forums. I made upkept up!
Hello Sleeper! I was in the Raleigh/Durham area the last two days and wanted Charlotte instead. Sadly, Southwest Airlines doesn't fly there, so it was the Tarheel State that way or not at all. Their airport code of RDU should stand for "Really Dull and Uneventful". I hear the scenery up by Asheville is quite awesome though. Welcome to the Forum!
Ive been to Durham a few times for concerts and stuff in the Chapel Hill area but I really never go to the real Raleigh. I guess there's not much there. Charlotte is ok but I don't even go THERE often. I'm a small town person more. Asheville is so awesome yes I've never seen such a beautiful area.
http://www.snapgalaxy.com/KL71/albums/198390 <---As you can see, this album is mostly filler. I ended up getting nothing out of this trip. I found out the hard way about public transportation in that area on a Sunday: It f---ing sucks. A cabbie wanted $28 minimum into Raleigh from the airport. Extortion to an area I knew almost nothing about? No thanks! I've heard about the scenery in Western North Carolina, and places like Mount Pisgah, a.k.a. the highest point on the eastern seaboard. I think I'll go back to North Carolina ONLY if I'm with some friends or if Southwest Airlines could bring service to Charlotte.
Asheville's airport is tiny but it does service so maybe if you planned reallllly far in advance it could work. I went to a place called Hooker falls and I highly recommend it if you go. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1264/1290365707_732a630697.jpg It really does look like that. Your picture of Florida's service road is nice.
Hello again Sleeper! Thanks for the picture comment by the way! I think the only city ending in ville I'd have a chance from here would be Nashville. Anyways, I didn't want to make the other post sound like I was slamming the whole state. It was the RDU airport that I didn't like. Fun question: Have you ever been to Connecticut? We're not just the coffee stop between New York City and Boston ya know!
Nashville seems like an interesting place to visit. I have never been to Connecticut. I can't think of anything there that would draw me in haa. I have been to NYC a few times though and thought that was nice.
