I never really understood why people who wear clothing on nude beaches.
Everybody arrives fully clothed, but after a while they get settled in and take it all off.

When I was at the nude beach one weekend, there was a lady who was yelling some smart-ass remarks to folks who walked by fully clothed. Putting them on the spot, making them uncomfortable for being clothed on a nude beach.

I call folks who go to a nude beach fully clothed 'textiles' or 'rags'

At my beach I go to. It is a very long one on a river, and as I walk, there are ends of the beach that have a vast majority of people who are more clothed than bare. When I am around too many clothed people on a beach and I'm one of the few naked ones, I feel uncomfortably out of place.

So it's ok for these textiles to see other people naked, but they won't follow suit. There's only 2 nude beaches in my whole state and they flood into the nude beaches fully clothed. This isn't fair is it.

I'm working on becoming a bigger smart-ass rather than being some reserved schmuck who keeps to himself about the utter annoyance these rag wearers bring to the beach. Saying things like "if ya got it, flaunt it!" "you realize you're at a nude beach, right" "Nice textiles ya got there." etc.

Why do people wear clothes at nude beaches??????

I don't know why they would were clothes at a clothes free beach.

It could probably be one of the two reasons.

    1) They feel to self-conscious to take off their clothes in front of others.
    2) They are pervs who only want to see others naked, and need their hands chopped off and their penis too so they can't do anything besides see others naked.

Women have the upper hand advantage when it comes to trying out public nudity. When a man has no shirt and a pair of swim trunks, that's considered fully clothed beach attire. But a woman can take her top off and be half naked. Men gotta go in all or none.

No, I don't. And thinking about it is a bit harsh. Eh... I was tired when I posted, so that might be why. I'm not normally a violent person.

The third reason could be a person who doesn't want to take their clothes off being with someone who does. Self-conscious perhaps, could be other reasons.

If someone was hassling me about getting naked, I'd leave. (And if they were hassling my girlfriend, I'd probably attack them)

I wanted to say something about that too

I never been to a nude beach...but if I ever do it would be for the free feeling...I wouldnt be there for the entertainment of seeing someone elses genitalia......or to "flaunt" my own....I wouldnt care if they were clothed or not..its their choice isnt it?

if someone were to start making smartass remarks my first thought would be "what a fucking perve..coming here just see naked people"

A 4th reason, maybe they're checking it out to see if it's something they can and want to try their next time out.
Personally I wouldn't say anything unless I saw the same people there clothed week after week. Then you may have a gripe.

Most "nude" beaches are actually clothing optional. They just optioned to leave theirs on for an "unkown" reason.

Only private ones can declare "must be nude"

I'm the type of person who doesn't care how strangers perceive me. So what I tend to do is rid myself of all of my societal expectations and let loose.

Stranger danger? Are you kidding me? You're more likely to get robbed from and raped by people you know.

Yeah, I mean the first time I went to a nude beach I was leery about taking it all off in front of everybody. But I felt it was one of the best decisions of my life later on.

Don't know what this unknown reason would be... Unless of course the person was absolutely hideous. But even then I see some uglies walking the nude beaches from time to time. They used to bother me, but all you gotta do is just look the other way. But then again they make you feel better about yourself and your own physique compared to theirs. There's one guy on the beach who exposed it all and he has a really nasty pox-like skin infection. He's absolutely disgusting looking, but it makes you feel sorry for him as well.

In other words: I'm an asshole that doesn't worry about ruining others' experiences.

All public nude beaches are clothing optional though in most cases the great majority of beach users are in fact nude. I would classify myself as a clothing optionalist rather than a naturist/nudist. It is my choice to go nude at times and another person's choice to be clothed. Many naturists have partners/friends who never want to go nude, if nude beaches were exclusively nude under law then they would not be able to go the beach together.

If you are seriously bothered about being seen nude by non-nudists then join a club!

    Hi,

i know quite different kinds of nudist beaches:
    - explicitly declared nude beaches with a reglement not to wear anything. Often there is even a patrol, looking for non-nude people and telling them to undress or to leave. For example, you find this at some holiday sites in France and Germany
    - beaches where nudity is just allowed, but without a rule to do so. For example, a common practice in the Netherlands („naaktrecreatie toegestaan“)
    - beaches that are unregulated (or just secluded) and everyone can do es she/he likes. Just as no-mans-land. You often find these in the stretch between regulated sites.
    - beaches that are non-nude by official declaration, but clothing optional by practice, often with a year-long tradition. You often find a vivid and open-minded mix of clothies and nudies. I guess a prominent example is pamplonne beach near St. Tropez / South France.

In the first case, it is clear everyone hast to get nude. This ist the safest version if you fear about voyeurs, or if yor feel uncomforetable with dressed ones around etc.

The other kinds have their advantages too. If you go with someone who isn’t „ready“ for nude beach life (too narrow minded, too self-conscious etc.), you can stay together anyhow and each one can do it as she/he likes the best and feels comfortable with.

I experienced that often young people go through a phase they feel ashamed to go naked in public. Just when the big changes of their body do happen. So it’s helful for them if they can keep their swimsuit on while they stay with others who like to be nude.

And a lot of women prefer to wear a bikini bottom at certain days. I think this is ok anyway.

Over the years, i took quite a bunch of people to such clothing optional beaches who couldn’t imagine to go nude, and by the time and by seeing others how unspectacular they handle it they overcame their shyness and today most oft hem enjoy nude beach life too.

So i guess there is a „right to exist“ for the swimsuit option too. Everoyone should choose the kind of beach she/he likes best and feels comfortable at.

Some friends of mine stumbled across a clothing optional beach and were charmed by the sight of kids playing in the sand, couples walking hand in hand, people enjoying their freedom. Although the rest of her family never tried it, the woman who told me this wanted to visit that beach once again, but this time in the nude. We never got to take that journey together, but she was responsible in part for encouraging me to try it; I even went to the very same beach. I had often gone nude at home, but nudist camps and resorts, nude beaches seemed like a wonderful new world that I wanted to be a part of and I have never regretted my journey to social nudity.

Nudity is wonderful and those who are blinded to this fact are sadly missing out on a wonderful freedom :)
