I've been thinking about this quite a bit lately...and my question(s) goes out to those who have experienced the 1960s...
Did you know that what you were doing was going to be in the history books of your grandchildren? That your way of life would be studied and create such controversy for the decades to come?
And also, how does it feel? I mean, man, you guys were part of the generation that changed everything. I believe that the revolution that took place in the 1960s will be remembered for hundreds of years to come, just like the revolution that became the birth of our nation.
And what about this decade, and this generation of youth? What will we be remembered for...bringing our country into another recession? For our selfishness, and our materialistic outlook on life? I mean even the self-proclaimed hippie youth of today cares more about the drugs in their bodies and the clothes on their back than the issues concerning our government and the society we live in. Yes, when asked they rant about our government and the closemindedness of our peers...but in reality no one is ready to do anything about it. No one will put their reputation on line to stand up for what they say.

And maybe I'm guity for that to...maybe I'm not as active as I should be...and I try as hard as I can to change what I find wrong...but maybe its not enough.

    Thankyou for reading my rant...
Wishing you much peace and love,
    Lauren

Yeah, we did, pretty much. By the late 60's, it was apparent that our world had taken a sharp turn. At least, it was apparent to us. And by "us" I mean my generation. Lots of older people didn't quite see it that way. It's funny when I think about those people now ... 40 and 50 years later, I'm now one of them .. lol.

Except that I'm not, really. I'm still a hippie at heart. I've just grown up and grown wiser.

I don't know that any one group or any one demographic is responsible for the recession. Recessions happen. The economy goes in cycles. And things were coming to a head anyway, I think. You just happened to be the ones on watch at the time.
