For charity http://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/8165618.Student_to_walk_100_miles_barefoot_for_charity/ Charli Martin to walk 100 miles barefoot for charity, Papyrus 8:38am Friday 14th May 2010 * By Dan Bean » A STUDENT is to walk barefoot 100 miles along the Yorkshire coast to raise money for charity. Charli Martin, a second-year student at the University of York, hopes to raise £500 for UK based suicide awareness and prevention charity Papyrus. She hopes to complete the trek from Bridlington to Loftus in four days. Charli, 20, said: “I’ll be with my friends Katie Toghill and Laura Holland, walking on roads and hopefully beaches. Both of them will be wearing shoes. Katie’s hoping to do the whole walk, and Laura’s hoping to do 50 miles of it.” Last year Charli raised £393 by spending a week walking everywhere barefoot. “I decided to spend a week in bare feet because it was something different, and got people talking to me, which brought more attention to Papyrus,” she said. The UK charity gives support to those dealing with suicide or depression, and is particularly important to Charli. “My great uncle killed himself, and I’ve had friends who have struggled with depression, so it is something that has been part of my life,” said Charli, who is studying French and German Linguistics. ***** http://www.justgiving.com/Charli-Martin/2 I Would Walk 100 Miles So...many of youse may remember that last year I undertook the dangerous, treacherous task of walking everywhere I went for a week barefoot. This year I'm going many steps further (literally) and as ye've probably guessed by now walking 100 miles...barefoot. I'll be walking from Bridlington to a wee town called Loftus and back again! I'll hopefully manage this in 4 days from the Monday 21st to Thursday 24th June!
Sorry, it just popped into my head the second I saw the thread title https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM0sTNtWDiI"]YouTube- the proclaimers/500 miles‎ That's really great what that guy's doing though.
Plus, it's charity with a good aim, not some bogus campaign by a shoe company... Way to go! Barefoot, of course. Wiggling bare toes, supportingly, ~*Ganesha*~
