I picked up a copy of Dr. Daniel Howell's, The Barefoot Book on Friday last. I was very intrigued by the first chapter or two. That part of the book included testimonials from people who are trying to make a habit of going barefoot as often as possible. Unfortunately soon after that the author started talking about the structure of the foot and what different types of footwear can do to it to harm it. I felt that in just a few short pages the author went from being a barefoot enthusiast to a card carrying member of the medical community. On the plus side-I think I'm a qualified podiatrist now. In an interesting twist he also recommended that readers of his book also read The Barefoot Hiker.
