    Mandy, how did you start?

Do I remember properly, that I read that you took out the dreads in your bangs (fringe, whatever :p ) a while back? or are they just not clearly visible in those pictures?

I did a search and couldn't find it, if you made an original thread/timeline...

Roo...I have a timeline somewheres...I tried finding it too but gave upon it. I started neglect...meaning I did absolutely nothing for the first 3-4 months except wash 2'ce a week. Then I got curious about all the different methods and I backcombed some, twist and ripped some and left some for neglect. So my dreads are a product of all three methods! I did brush some out in the front to create a fringe. I usually wear my hair up everyday for work and got sick of the one dimensional look. My fringe is not as noticeable when my hairs down...when its up it's looks as though it's bizzness in the front and party in the back!

spazz....my hair was shoulder length when I started...and is still shoulder length 2 years later! Bwah! The first year my hair grew past my shoulders but the 2'nd year has been all shrinkage.

    Ahh, cool.

Out of curiosity, do you remember what methods produced which dreads? You mentioned some roots arn't locked still, as is visible, but with neglect, my roots aggressivley lock as soon as that dread is reasonably formed.

The dread here with the bulbous tip was neglect and a few others in the front were neglect as well. All the dreads in the back of my head that are underneath are neglect as well. I have some fringe that is now dreading via neglect too and Im just letting it knot. For some reason my neglect dreads didnt knot in an orderly fashion. A lot of them started at the tips and then worked their way up to the middle...then stopped...then the knots started toward the top and worked its way down meeting up with the knottage from the bottom. Does that make sense? Very strange.

'tis very strange, mine dread in a very orderly fashon, almost like a braid once they get going, back from the tip. Been trying to figure out if that's how most strait hair dreads.

ya know I dont think there is just one way for any type of hair to dread. I think it just depends on a lot of external forces? For example...I play a lot with my hair when bored...I roll around a lot in my sleep...and I wear my hair up everyday? I dunno but those things and more might contribute to different dreading patterns for every person.

Wow mandyland! Your dreadlings are sweet! Yeah, I definitely play with my left side alot too and find them sprouting little scraglers everywhere. Oh well, it'll come in time. I like your color too! Very nice!
