I have finally worked my way up to level 6 and earlier this evening I vanquished the computer on chess titans (my Windows Vista box). Is there anyone out there who is a fan of chess titans, or just chess in general? Anyone past level 6? I eventually want to be able to beat level 10, but this will require a lot of work. I recently bought 2 books on chess one of which gave me nice pointers that I used to win level 6. If you are an advanced chess player, or even a beginner who is improving, what is your mechanism for improvement? Up to this point it has been practice, practice, practice for me. However, studying strategies through reading has also proven useful. What is your approach? Cheers!
I remember when I would get demolished by level 0! It has taken a while to get up to where I am, and just when it seems you know all of the strategies, the computer pulls a new trick. I spent at least a month mastering level 5.... so level 6 maybe 2 months???? Cheers!
I’ve been a fan of Chess since I was a kid. I was virtually glued to my seat during the world title matches back in the 80s which pitted Anatoli Karpov against Garry Kasparov; then again in 1997' when Kasparov took on Deep Blue and lost 2 to 1, with 3 draws Hotwater
I’ve played chinese checkers once or twice but I didn’t really care for it; but if its any comfort I really like dominoes Hotwater
I beat or tie level 6 over 50 percent of the time. I am moving up to level 7(windows)! However windows chess is a bit easier than linux chess. Oh well, I remember when I was being soundly destroyed against level 0 on chess titans, so I have come a LONG way! Cheers!
Like charlton heston in the omega man playing chess against his alter ego - a bust of caesar Hotwater
I used to play chess quite a lot, even won a chess competition at my old school (admittedly the other competitors were fairly mediocre). If I'd played the guy who ran the competition (my chemistry teacher), I'd have been destroyed most likely though I wouldn't mind getting back into to it a bit more really...
Back in 1993 I saw the movie 'Searching for Bobby Fischer' at a movie theatre near boston university, but the movie was constantly being interrupted by horror fiction author stephen king who kept running back and forth to the concession stand buying popcorn and stuff and talking to the movie screen (really) Hotwater
I am just relearning chess these days. My son took an interest on it, as his father I would like to nurture that interest. Thanks for the tips, he hasn't beaten me yet even playing without a queen or rooks, but he is steadily improving maybe I should follow your step of playing chess with the computer and reading strategies. Thanks again.
