    Do you believe this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxG0JrWNDaU"]YouTube- Obama Announces End to Iraq War in Aug. 2010

IM curious on everyones thoughts about this topic. For one its nice to know that it will finally be over. On the other hand we now have 140,000 in afghanistan.

My big question is where are we going next? Iran? Or the last frontier, North Korea? Just throwin this out there.

I know its ABC but here is more news about the troops being pulled out of Iraq.

Leaving, now that we have gone, is just as shameful as going in the first place.

    This is nothing to celebrate.

Obama:"...our combat mission in Iraq will end..." (has ended).
    Yes, I do believe that.
It isn't over yet, though...it'll just be Iraqi's fighting instead.
The Iraq war is over? nagh

    Neither.

What - 125,000 - 150,000 troops out of Iraq!! I think that's f-king great!! If Brush was still there there would be 300,000 there protecting his oil wells. What the fuck do you want Obama to do? Bush got us in and he's trying to get us out. And it's waaaaayyyyy more shameful to go in than to come out. For God's sake, let them work out their problems.

Now Afghanistan -- different story. We don't need any troops 3000 miles from home in the Afgan mountains. Let em go back to growing poppies like they have for years.

It's the right thing to do, and it's the right way to do it. We need to leave, but we cannot in good conscience leave them without protection from their enemies. No matter how wrong it was for America to attack them in the first place, we did take out their army and nearly all of their infrastructure. We have a moral obligation to help them until they can stand on their own feet.

We also need for Congress to pass some strong legislation barring future presidents, and Congress itself, from invading another nation unless we are first attacked, or an attack is eminent.

Problem is as long as war makes money for the top dogs we will always be finding some place to invade. Look at WWII and Vietnam. Unless a change on another level happens. Which i doubt will happen anytime soon.

so where are we going next.

    ya know?

"Iraq" was being handed back over while Bush was in office...

Obama has the luxury of good timing.
Trust me, if the situation was worse in Iraq there would be no withdrawl of combat troops.

U.S. combat troops would leave Iraq by 2011 under draft agreement
    By Stephen Farrell
    Published: Friday, August 22, 2008

The United States has agreed to remove combat troops from Iraqi cities by next June and from the rest of the country by the end of 2011 if conditions in Iraq remain relatively stable, according to Iraqi and U.S. officials involved in negotiating a security accord governing American forces here.

The withdrawal timetable, which Bush administration officials called "aspirational goals" rather than fixed dates, are contained in the draft of an agreement that still must be approved by Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki and other Iraqi leaders before it goes before the fractious Parliament. It has the support of the Bush administration, American and Iraqi officials said.

Im tired of the sanctamonious self righteous attitude of the people in the states. Americans have no business in pakistan, they have no business in afghanistan, they have no business in iran, they have no business in saudi arabia, they have no business in japan, they have no business in germany.

We have a HUGE number of issues with our own police force and nazi like militaryesque uniformed drones parading our own streets.

I believe the phrase "Fuck You America" is an understatement ...

This isn't new news, we've been sending drones into Pakistan basically since we've been Afghanistan. The fact remains Pakinstan's Tribal Area's province and parts of the North-West fronteir province basically have near full autonomy from the federal government of Pakistan and are a haven for insurgents.
