The woman caught on CCTV putting a cat in a wheelie bin was receiving advice from the police amid fears for her safety after RSPCA officers tracked her down.

The video shows the unnamed middle-aged woman placing Lola the cat into a bin outside a house in Coventry.

The RSPCA said she was being offered police protection because of the “backlash against her”.

A police spokesman said he “urged the public to leave the matter to be dealt with correctly”.

Lola's owner Stephanie Mann said she and husband Darryl couldn't find Lola on Sunday morning but followed the sound of her meows.

"We thought she might be trapped under the car because she sounded like she was hurt, so we followed her cries and eventually found her in the bin," she said.

The couple had previously installed a personal surveillance camera outside their home following a series of thefts in the area.

Mrs Mann said they checked the video tape expecting to discover local youths, or a drunk, had thrown Lola into the bin late on Saturday evening, but were shocked to discover the culprit was a respectable looking woman.

"I was absolutely heartbroken to see how someone could just be so cruel," she told the Coventry Telegraph.

I say let the bitch deal with the "backlash". People that are cruel to animals get no mercy from me.
Throw her ass in the trash can. She deserves no police protection.

Considering the SPCA takes animals, this cruelty seems particularly unnecessary. She must be incredibly callous or lazy.

That's exactly what the newsman said.

Apparently she received really bad threats, death threats I think, from animal lovers and what not.

Sick fuck! What is the matter with people? Sadistic bitch befriended the poor thing first (obviously a friendly, person-loving kitty), then plucks it up and throws it away. Acting casual, friendly and innocent the whole time.

Backlash, eh? Like i've posted earlier, there is no point in trying to resist the cat/toxoplasmosis takeover:

I'm going to assume that this woman is not of sound mind. Let the police handle it.

only cat owner would defend a species that has no significant value loose in the streets or wild..
Feral animals can carry the same common diseases as domestic animals. They are a constant source of reinfection for wildlife and livestock, which works against efforts to control costly diseases such as tuberculosis. Feral animals are also potential carriers of other animal diseases (such as rabies and foot and mouth disease) and parasites (such as the screw worm fly). So far, these do not occur in Australia. An outbreak among Australia's wildlife would have an immediate and widespread effect, and would be disastrous for our environment. In some cases it would also be very difficult to control these diseases and parasites if feral animals carried them.

When I was about 6 someone wanted to throw boiling water over a stray cat and refused to move, so the cat got away. Since then I will not tolerate anyone who does something cruel to an animal. If someone walked past my house and dumped my cat into a wheelie bin, I'd hunt them down.
