I'm getting fat and jiggly!!

    20 lbs isn't that bad compared with other situations.

    I've known two people who were about 150 lbs overweight and used to hang out with each other because they found some comfort in their similar lifestyles which happened to be unhealthy. Unfortunately, one is now dead due to complications related to the obesity and the other has trouble just getting out of the house. Both of them were slim at one time but gained weight consistently over the years.

    Drinks lots and lots of water
    Have more sex!
    Don't eat after 7:00 pm
    Don't drink soda, regular or diet
    Have a few cookies once in awhile, don't completly deprive yourself

    Do you eat meat? Ever thought of going vegetarian?

    The poster in question may have been a bit insensitive, but he’s right :(

    This weekend I was mountain biking when I came across these two women who walking along the jogging path. They were so huge I couldn’t even stand to look at them.

    Their calves were the size of my thighs and they appeared to be walking in slow-motion, they had to because their calves from rubbing together, yes calves not thighs :ack2:

    Weight should only be a issue when you feel unhealthy, ive been slim and larger, slimmer again then large, some people go thru there life with weight differences. I know i have. I was happy large and happy slim now if i start to feel unhealthy thats when i do something about it-

    Unhappy change it, its only to easy to stay miserable and lifes to short!

    There have been some good points made by people on this thread.

    Accept where you are and then work on where you really want to be.

    Start slow and maintain that. You are more likely to be successful if you put in place a plan that fits with you and your life.

    Good luck and I am sure if you wish to make changes, you will. :)

    eating healthy is a good start but also decrease your portion size. try to only eat during the day when you are actually hungry. exercise helps lower stress levels, try to find something that you enjoy cos you're more likely to stick to doing it. if you're having a craving try gurgling mouthwash or brushing your teeth, apparently changing the flavour in your mouth helps you get past the craving. if you want to change you have to be committed to changing your lifestyle. it's not easy but keep remembering why you are doing it and feel good about treating your body better.

    make sure you work on fixing or decreasing the problem first though which is the stress.

    First throw away all that garbage you have at home. Second stop stressing out on everything! Come on having a job and getting married isnt all the stressing your making it that way.Im sure you have time to exercise,your just not finding time for it.

    Her relationship is very stressful, I remember reading one her posts about it before where she considered leaving him.

    Everybody thanks for the responses.... even the mean ones. I must admit, I too look at really fat people and think to myself "how did they end up that way?" or "why do they keep eating crap if they can hardly walk?" I'm definatley not at that point but it's what I fear. I'm still at a decent size but I don't like it and I dont want to get bigger. And even if I were huge....calling me names doesnt help.

    Stress is pretty powerful in large amounts and there is no doubt in my mind that it plays a role in why people (including me) gain large amounts of weight.

    I'm not trying to blame anybody for my weight gain but was just simply listing the changes in my life and wondering if people can relate. I am taking steps to get in more exercise and to eat healthier but ofcourse there are days when I'm like "ugh." It's part of the process.

    It depends on the job and the marriage. Not everybody is happy and being treatred well...... depends on the person.

    You're right. I do have time to exercise and I am starting to work it in more.

    We've engineered a social system in which makes a large majority of people struggle with their weight/weight issues/amount of exertion. Making individuals feel like shit over a systemic problem kind of makes you an asshole.

    On the other hand, bucking the system and losing weight is far from impossible, it simply takes a little bit of discipline and a little bit of planning.
