The Associated Press Posted: 08/18/2010 08:42:13 AM PDT RICHMOND, Calif.—California officials are outfitting preschoolers in Contra Costa County with tracking devices they say will save staff time and money. The system was introduced Tuesday. When at the school, students will wear a jersey that has a small radio frequency tag. The tag will send signals to sensors that help track children's whereabouts, attendance and even whether they've eaten or not. School officials say it will free up teachers and administrators who previously had to note on paper files when a child was absent or had eaten. Sung Kim of the county's employment and human services department said the system could save thousands of hours of staff time and pay for itself within a year. It cost $50,000 and was paid by a federal grant. Does anyone else feel this a sad day for bovine america? We are tagging your preschoolers so they will STAY IN LINE DAMMIT, ehem, excuse me, I mean so we can keep them "safe". Yes, safety first. We'll track them on a computer screen. Each child will be a little blip on the screen, how fun! Although to make this work make sure your children do NOT remove the jackets/tags. We need to be in contact at ALL TIMES.. for their safety of course. If they remove their jacket or refuse to wear the radio tags, they wil NOT be allowed on school grounds. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE TAGGED! WE MUST HAVE ORDER! SAFETY! SECURITY! ALL TAGS AND BARCODES MUST BE PRESENT TO ENTER THE SCHOOL! IF YOU CANNOT IDENTIFY YOURSELF YOU WILL NOT ENTER THIS "PUBLIC" BUILDING! Im sorry, must be a malfunction on our bullshit speaker, I mean, loudspeaker. Now, this program will also free up teachers time. There job is to teach your children, but now as long as we can keep your children in rooms/pens, behind locked doors, with tracking devices, under supervision at ALL times, then that frees up the teacher for more important things, like.. Has anyone heard anything with this? Protests? Petitions? Outcry from the community? Anything?
