wep, Spain is the 10th, not a bad mark, but i can't like these kind of rankings, because it's based on averages, and if you're unlucky or have problems, the best country can be a hell for any of us. Although Ireland is the best place to live, not everybody live that well.

I fully agree with you Migle, most young Irish people all want to go to Australia/New Zealand or move to the likes of France Germany or Spain and were shocked at the survey. Loads do go to Australia and New Zealand but due to the fact that alot of Irish people don't know a second language most can't move to the continent. Although the survey says Ireland is the best place to live I'd much prefer to live in somewhere like Spain instead of Ireland.

Are you a Real fan Migle? If so comiserations on last nights match! Barca really walked all over Real!

    Yo yo...

Another wandering Irish soul here, From Waterford but residing in Dublin... (A friendly Ahoi Hoi to spacer and luke). But it isn't really that bad a country. I like it, No, infact I love it.. but I'd hardly say we have a high standard of living. Its dammed expensive, especially when your a student.Bands play all across the continent and charge 20 euro for a ticket, they come here and that suddenly becomes 30 or 40 euro, thats just out and out ridiculous... However, In comparison to others, our education system is top notch. And I live comfortably so I can't really complain.

High standard of living? Yes. Highest? I hope not.....

Yeah, I remember I laughed at this when I heard it first too. Like elementary_penguin said, it is pretty expensive, especially if you're a student and I agree with the comment about the bands too. That annoys the hell out of me. Either way, I do like living in Ireland and we do have one of the best education systems in the world!!

Ah I give out about Ireland all the time but I still love the place, I'm proud to be Irish and proud of our language and culture. Ideally I'd love to live in Galway, when I come back form me travels I might look for a transfer in work down to Galway.

Not much that would appeal to me in Mayo apart from Westport, that's a nice spot.
