From what I have seen, on TV mind you, there are plenty of bigger people on nudist beaches and what not. Perhaps you are going to the wrong type of places. I for one, wouldn't want to be somewhere that holds beliefs that your can only be nude if you are of a certain shape.

i don't think it really matters wot you look like on a nudist resort... i been to a couple and everyone seemed to do their best to pretend not to notice that everyone was in teh nudd

I guess it's just the norm to them, like I don't always pay attention to what people are wearing on a normal beach. Maybe, or it could be something else entirely!

I’ve been to a couple of nude / clothing optional beaches and perhaps I’ve just been lucky but I’ve never confronted anyone grossly overweight. I have however confronted several girls between 12-14 years old which was mildly uncomfortable.

But fat no (thank god) just the usual love handles [IMG]

I tend to think it's personal opinion as to what people "want" to see that is comfortable to them.
While I have no issue with being in nude company of overweight or even "moderately fat" people, I do not wish to see morbidly obese people naked.

In my opinion, that is people that are 100+ lbs overweight. It's somewhat unsettling to see that when you're not used to it. Nothing against the person as I know several people that overweight, but I do not want to see them nude anymore than I want to look at other things that I don't care to see.
Does that make me "not a nudist"? No, it makes me human.

Got a problem, look the other way.

Even if you do see a morbidly fat person at a nude setting, even in a locker room, you can always think: Wow, I'm glad I don't look like that.

The worst case I've seen was a guy with a beer belly with boils all over his body.
Nonetheless, just look the other way.

I tend to agree with most of the comments. To be honest I tend look away when I see grossly obese people whether they are nude or clothed; my view is that they look awful dressed or undressed. However they look no worse undressed.

I'm around 12 pounds more than I would like to be and it is a struggle to keep my weight in check especially as you get older. I felt really uncomfortable at my peak weight of 154 pounds, currently 146 and striving to get to 133 or thereabouts. You certainly look a lot better slimmer and being slimmer gives a boost to your self esteem. I just can't understand why people let themselves get so big when with very few exceptions they can do something about it. The weight can creep on without you realizing it but how can you not notice 30 plus pounds let alone be happy with it.

Being a naturist does definitely make you more aware of your own body and more inclined to keep it in shape, if only for vanity, and that helps your well being.
