What kind of hair do you have?
Wavy and curly at the bottom.

How long was your hair before locking? Lil past the nippywips.

How long have you had your locks?
No idea. If I had to guess, I would say the ones that were made are about a lil over a year? And the rest are about 8-9 months?

Have you seen any gain in length since locking? How much?
Fuck no!

How long does your new growth/roots get before they start to lock?
They're all different

What method did you take on in order to receive your knots from the dreadlock gods?
Prayer to the dreadlock gods, like 3 or 4 were back combed and 2 were twistnrips and the rest was neglected

What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products? Wash with that cinnamon lush bar whenever I feel like my heads dirty.

What is something that you wish you knew when first starting you locks?
There's prolly somethin, I just can't think of it at the moment.

umm it mostly grows then shrinks hair still not down to shoulders

lockage starts pretty much immediately

natural, though i do a good bit of hair twisting around my finger out of neurotic boredom

What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products? Water almost always, i have used bronners a handful, and head and shoulders once

What is something that you wish you knew when first starting you locks?
dont touch anything, and sleep is key

6 inches or so? it wasnt long, but not short either

loads, theyve practically doubled.

almost nothing.

backcombed. and then neglected, and twist and ripped in places. a real mash-up
What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products?
I use Dr Organic lavender shampoo every few days. and a deep cleanse every month.
How long do you think you will have your locks?
well, for at least a few yearsfrom now, i want them to got long and really nice. from there? im not sure, i might have to cut them off for a job or something. haven't thought about it, i'll take it when it comes

some dreads have grown about 3 inches, some have just got shorter

varies - some have around 1 inch, some i couldn't poke my finger through. and i have this one dread that has about 2 inches of non knotty hair at the root - the stubborn little git.
What method did you take on in order to receive your knots from the dreadlock gods?
backcombed loosely, and left.
What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products?
i wash with lush solid shampoo bars, soak and float is anti-dandruff it's amazing.
How long do you think you will have your locks?
time: i hope to have them forever
length: i imagine if they get below my ass i'll trim them for convenience.

my hair initially shrunk 6 inches and had been going through a 2 year long grow/shrink phase until recently. now my dreadlocks are back to a few inches below my shoulders and they're continuing to gain length.

How long does your new growth/roots get before they start to lock?
anywhere from 5 inches of new growth along my hairline to 1 inch or so everywhere else on my head.

What method did you take on in order to receive your knots?
backcombed then mostly left alone

What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products?
I wash every 6 to 10 days with baking soda and hot water, sometimes with a few drops of essential oils added (rinse well!) and rarely use a dandruff shampoo.

What is something that you wish you knew when first starting you locks?
don't fuck with the tips. always dry dreadlocks in the sun. if you had crusty dandruff before getting dreadlocks, you will continue to have it no matter what.

I don't know.

I don't know, I hadn't brushed my hair for a good few years before I backcombed and did t'n'r, but my hair really hadn't dreaded much at all (I realise now that this is most likely due to me unconsciously fiddling with/combing my hair with my hands)... so when I stopped brushing, it was just below chin length, and when I backcombed it was just below my shoulder blades

Yeah, maybe 2-3cms in the past few months more than anything

1-2cms
What method did you take on in order to receive your knots from the dreadlock gods?
(Undisciplined) neglect, backcombing, t'n'r (minimal). In the first few months I let my boyfriend at the time crochet one of my dreadlocks, to see what would happen.... this dread has since almost completely fallen out, with only 3-4cms of dreaded hair left at the top (where it was left alone for the past year or so), so this one will be left alone now too, but it was interesting to watch!
What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products?
I shampoo with an Al'chemy Mandarin shampoo once a week, and once a month I do a deep clean using bicarb soda, salt, lemon juice and tea tree. After a wash or deep clean I normally rub a little perfume oil through my dreads just to make them smell yummy, though they never smell bad.
What is something that you wish you knew when first starting you locks?
That neglect means not even hand combing your hair! And that t'n'r and root flipping and crocheting will really do nothing to help and more to hurt your dreads.
How long do you think you will have your locks?
I'll keep this set another 2 years or so I'd say, and then cut and then do a complete neglect set after that

swim in the sea as often as i can, just dreadhead hq shampoo

that u can backcomb them urself and they will turn out the same as if u pay for it.

it depends, some lock up pretty quick, some take forever.

backcombed once one day when i was bored. over the next couple days every single one came undone and i said 'fuck it, if my hair wants to dread, it'll dread'. and it did
What do you do to care for your locks? Do you use any products?
wash them about every 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks with some doc bronners

that all my work backcombing will come undone and to not even bother

like with most things in my life, i'm probably going to wake up one day and feel like a change and cut em off.
