  4. People stopping in the middle of the pavement to make a point in their conversation and then making out like it's your fault that you've just bumped into them.
    Chewing gum on the ground.
Car drivers who think cyclists are invisible.

I'll do another 3 later. This has got me thinking. Mrs Tolerance I am not!

  5. People who put the shopping trolley right across the aisle while they look for something on the shelfs. Fuck sake, surely it's easier to keep the cart pointing in the way you are going!
People and carts blocking the aisle because 2 or 3 shoppers have entered into conversation about the price of whatever.
A new check-out opening and the people at the back of the line run forward and get attended to while I still have 5 people with loads of shopping in front of me.

    I HATE SUPERMARKETS!!!!!!!!

Then there are the people that think they have some special privilege to be in the 8 items or less line with a cart full of stuff. They come up with rationalizations to justify it by saying, "I've got less the 8 items. I've got my fruits, my meats, my vegetables." (I've seen people do this stunt. :))

They don't realize how much that irritates the people in the line behind them. Then they get upset when the person at the register turns them away and when they are insulted by the people behind them.

Maybe we need a staff psychologist at each supermarket to counsel and treat those kind of people. :)

My local supermarket installed self-checkout registers last year.
They are great and I always use the self check-out.

But I really hate it when some dipstick tries to use it and can't comprehend the simple fucking act of scanning an item or pushing a friggin button, so they have to get help and slow down the whole process.

We also go to the local 99 cent store. (99 cent stores rock) but whoever teaches the cashiers is friggin stupid.
Every cashier does the same thing, scan each item and set it aside, then after they are done scanning THEN they start to bag all the stuff.
Fuck people scan & bag, scan & bag, it's simple to do and a LOT faster.

Therefore we refer to it as the 99 year store.
There is also one bitch there who has to read the label of EVERY item as she scans your stuff? scan & bag bitch! I got places to go!

I think that we all have different triggers and tolerances for most things in life and noise seems to be one of the most prevalent.

I do agree that kids are going to be kids and sometimes they will rather push the envelope of tolerance but to be honest I can more easily accept that from them as they are still learning or testing boundaries. I have more of an issue with adults who should know better and apply common sense and courtesy. I use the term kids rather as a broad age, not necessarily just tots or young teens.

I also wonder when I see a younger person really acting out how much is just rebellion and how much is lack of guidance by an adult figure in the curve of what is normally acceptable and considered to be good manners. I also think peer comes in to this also as if all around you are acting as badly or more so it becomes an acceptable within that group to do so.

Personally, I find we are a society in general who do not raise our kids in the traditional sense anymore and yet we expect them to then use self guidance without having given guidance. Family values have drastically changed in the last 3 decades and perhaps the decline is in large part due to exactly that.

We often are very quick to recognize that youth are not what we wish them to be and yet who raised them to be that way?

I actually feel for the youth of today as many who are raising them have not grown up themselves. I also include my own generation in this lump. Perhaps we are the biggest babies to have ever been raised. We came under the generation of the feel good times and of self righteous importance in the grand scheme of the world. I think that lack of family and values may have caught up with us all. :)

I feel that a lot of it has to do with the influence Dr. Benjamin Spock and his ideas on child rearing which permeated the times you and I grew up in and have become solidified in the mind of many as the "proper" way to raise children.
I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I think that is a part of the whole problem. I also think that we just no longer (not everyone) instill the same value systems. While some needed to change, granted, there are many that should not of. Those that do, are viewed as being old fashioned or worse.

By traditional I mean that even things as simple as family time, dinners, holidays, someone being there to listen are sometimes not there.

I think many things have changed for the better as in kids have rights. They should have and should be aware that they are not someones whipping post.

So many of my kids friends are basically raising themselves, it is surprising and it many cases I actually feel they are asked to be far more responsible than the parent(s) who are suppose to be raising them display themselves.

There are many great kids out there, I do believe that. I do not think youth has changed much instead parenting has changed.
