Don't know if you've all seen this video but I've just found this. It shows some pretty extreme winter barefooting. Sound is in Norwegian. Can anyone offer a translation? http://www.break.com/usercontent/2007/8/13/barefoot-in-the-winter-348865
A few words are in english, the camera man seems to be a supporter of the barefooters activity. Snowfooting is a great deal of fun, something I've been a fan of since my teenage years. If you like your soles strong and tough you do it to maintain a nice leathery thickness. The variety of snow makes each outing an adventure. Wet slushy stuff will test your circulation. Re-frozen snow has an awesome gritty texture that works the instep and can be sharp as kinives. Fresh fallen powder can make walking feel like a silent cloud.
