I think I hear the pitter patter of little pinners bumping up against the wood chips.....:hurray: :drool5: Mother Nature has pissed a ton of rain down on us this weekend. Fresh cyanescens are almost here!!
I want the ones that make us smaller and then the ones that make us taller..... come Alice, lets follow that rabbit.... I want some shroooommmmsssss Madd Hatter here I come!!!!
Why? Trying for a family monopoly of the thread? Sad when a family has to communicate via a message board. Just kidding
Nooooo, we just wanna go picking!!!! And sheeeeoot, we're going for a family monopoly of the entire forums!!!! :reddevil:
Well shit, you know if you cant get someone to listen to you offline they will online... curiosity eventually gets is us to read and respond to each other.........lol And we let anyone come with, we like to share our finds
I have bad enough anxiety when it comes to eating wild cubes. I always(despite every precaution) tend to have gander at the possibility of me eating the wrong kind. That would probably be even worse with cyans, because they really do look so close to the deadly galerina autumnalis. Would be hard to get the thought out of my paranoid brain. have fun with those!
This post is to warn everybody that there is apparently an undescribed neurotoxin in Psilocybe azurescens and P. cyanescens. Although unpleasant, I am unaware of any fatalities or poisonings severe enough to require an emergency room visit. The symptoms are muscle weakness, loss of control or coordination, loss of balance, and a fatigue that can last for several days. It would seem wise to limit the usage of these species, and particularly to avoid any large doses of them. These are the only species I am currently aware of this issue with, but if any other species seem to be causing problems it would be good to let the community know so that they can also be avoided.
I have used cyans, semilaceata, stuntzs, and pelliculosa, for the last dozen years. I have not known any aquaintance of mine who has had any problems of the nature you describe but we will certainly remain alert. I have studied and picked with Joseph Amiratti professor, university of Washington. I do not recommend picking wild mushrooms without a competent identifier present. Any mushroom that I have any doubt about whatsoever will not make it into my collection. I would note that I rarely consume the body of the mushroom but prefer to extract with hot water. Also I've seen people tempted to use mushrooms from the field that are not in pristine condition. Various stages of mushroom decomposition can throw some noxious things into the mix. I use only fresh healthy mushrooms which I dry immediately for later use. I personally would be much more concerned about musimol intoxication which Orison seems to attend with impunity.
the shroomery post states it may be due to the wood these species are growing on, as they may be picking up some indole (chemical compound), a heterocyclic organic compound in the substrate..
Link to the post? Region specific? thedope This is true. If mushrooms were legal we could clear up everything about these things that are a part of our future whether we like it or not! I read in wikipedia that the japanese developed means for mass synthesis of psilocybin in 2003 lol
I went on shroomery and the post orison quotes came right up. But from the way I read it the "reports" were just that, subjective trip reports, no samples were tested. There has been no previously undescribed "neurotoxin", described, or identified.
