    Hi everyone,

so my hair in the back is really annoying me. I have redreaded it a couple times and most of it comes out every time, and I mean completly comes out.

I was going to leave it alone with a little undreaded hair in the back but that only looks good right after I shower. Once I sleep on it just doesn't look cool anymore and its annoying me.

sooo, today as I was starting the twist and rip process. I decided I would try braiding the hair. I started with the twist and rip to seal the roots well. then I braided the length of of my hair and then twist and rip the ends also.

My thought process is that eventually the hair will start coming out of the braid and with the help of palmrolling it will knot up and start forming a dread, the braid helping by keeping it all together better...idk. Not sure if it will happen that way but its worth a try.

Before you get your panties in a wad, have you read the FAQ thread yet???

Making dreads just gives the appearence that the hair is actually knotted, but it's not, that's why it comes out. Twist n rip might help out with your sections if your tryin to keep em more organized.

Give up on them looking good for now. It's just gonna be a mess, for a while.

I got no experience with the braiding idea, but from what I've read it takes forever ever, ever ever ever to lock up.

Just my opinion, I think the palm rolling is useless and could possibly cause some damage. Others might disagree.

My advice, just keep ya shit clean and forget about your hair for the next few months. It will start knotting up it self. All you will have to do the is pull the big massive clumps of hair apart if you don't want a huge beaver tail.

Seems like your lookin for a tidy'er process though. If that is the case, twist and rip those titty's/hair and use a crochet hook for the loosies.

    Hope this helps.

    yeahhhhh, ummmm.

you can't dread or re-dread your hair, for that matter, instantly.
i braided quite a few of my tips for the hell of it. only one stayed in and it looks like loopy shite. just sayin...

oh yeah palmrolling is pointless, if anything it loosens any hair that may have been on its way to locking.

Unfortunately your theory won't have a happy ending ... umm, the main point being that the reason all of the things you've tried aren't working is cause your hair won't have it and is rejecting it.

geez guys, Im not trying to rush it or make it look perfect. I don't wont dreads in three days. I actually think it will take forever to form them from a braid, and i figure there will be lots of loops and stray hairs for a long time. Like I said its an experiment, its three little braids in the back of my head, their mostly hidden, but if they look like crap for awhile i don't care... all my dreads have to do that. I simple want them to dread, they are stuborn! If it doesn't work then im back to where I started. oh and I wasnt askin for anyones advice < not being rude just sayin.

I tried plaiting two dreads and neither of them formed a dread in two years. They just fell out. The hair remains in the 3 sections, and because it is in sections the hairs don't migrate to the other sections. So you can try it, but it didn't work for me ^^

Tip: T&Ring the ends won't stay in. I wrapped my plait ends with cotton thread, it stayed in for a very long time.

when did you first do the initial twist and rip or backcomb? you are saying you don't want to rush it, but if you are fretting over the back not locking as fast as you would want and it hasn't been at least 5 months, then you are rushing it. just sayin...
