Years ago I was talking to an older man at work about the word Mick when a young guy overheard us and asked what it meant because a "friend" of his was always calling him that. When we told him that Mick was an ethnic slur against the Irish he got really pissed off. The old guy told the kid that if someone had called one of his uncles a mick, who was not Irish, they would have probably been stabbed.

I guess I have enough Spanish, German and Scottish blood mixed in me with the Irish to not be personally offended by any slurs. I just thought it was funny as hell.
