and infinite absurdity and misinformation. You must pass this on to at least 10 of your friends or you will suffer bad luck for the next three years.
i do plan to read the whole thread, but i wanted to respond first. first, i absolutely agree about the pre/post internet thing. it is indeed that significant a change in society second, the internet is a tool. kind of like guns dont kill people, people with guns kill people. the internet is a tool, that can be used for good or for ill. also, the internet does not force us not to interact with people face to face, that is a choice, although most people will never recognize it as such. its easier to stay home, surrounded by minds interested in the same things as you (keeping in touch? facebook. like music? music forum. want to buy a farm? homesteading forum. etc) there are little give and takes happening all over the internet. i am concerned about my privacy on the internet, to an extent. the benefits of using facebook, or any other site i frequent, outweighs the personal risk to me. i am honest on the internet, so i rarely have to eat my words, and if i do say something i regret saying, im honest about that too. the knowledge ive gained from the internet leads me to believe that traditional schooling will be changing. kids will learn what they are interested in, and the internet makes it accessible. George Carlin said "Kids who want to learn to read are gonna learn to read. Much more important to teach children to question what they read. Children should be taught to question everything." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo-QIY7ys-k&feature=related"]YouTube - George Carlin -Question Everything so the kids who dont care about learning won't. the kids who are interested are going to blossom into powerhouses of knowledge and new ideas. but look at the vast number of fuck-tards on the internet. they dont make the cut, you know? theyll be left behind for not using the internet to its potential, and only using the passive brainwashing of facebook games and other sheeple driving tools. but the smart people use the internet to their advantage, it will be interesting to see what happens as the information gap widens. i foresee...anti-discrimination legislation for stupid people. otherwise we might have to let stupid people die off, or support them through programs. eventually stupid people will become un-hireable. i made that word up, im creative, another thing thats sorely lacking, and even shunned in some ways. and also, keep in mind that there are areas where the internet has limited reach. in those places it is much more precious than here in the west. a child in africa is probably not flaming forums for shits and giggles, they are probably learning about things that will help their communities, because they still have communities. better methods of getting fresh water, sturdier buildings, etc. so at least some people dont take it for granted. i remember when we got the internet in our house, i used to use chat rooms, but was always frustrated that intelligent conversations were so rare. i was around 13 years old when we got the internet i think. i used the school's internet for learning, but not the one at home oddly enough. its amazing how much its changed.
the internet blows, it needs to be updated in many ways for it to be considered a pool of all knowledge, I think it drives us away from reality. BTW, when is The Internet 2 coming out?
it's the infinite lots of useless and useful information.. how aware do we need to be? what is awareness? my guess is that it's unnecessary and hindering the human species
It's also addictive. I know a few people, young people mostly, whose whole social life comes from the internet - . Great for shut-ins!
The only thing hindering humanity is humanity, not the internet. The internet, in all actuality, does NOT exist. There is nothing you can physically call the internet. It is merely a global network intended for whatever people could use it for. Pretty sure the guy who created it was just like "Uhh... here, its kinda cool." Then Al Gore came along trying to be cool The internet is the only place on the face of the planet where two people, from totally different cultures and speak entirely different languages, can interact without even communicating. Some people like to be well informed and others are cool with not knowing anything about the world's issues. I live on the Gulf coast of FL and didnt know about the black impending death until about two weeks later when I heard someone run into the water saying "Swim before the oil gets here" Hindering human species... hah
^^semantics i guess because you can't separate the internet from people i agree with you we do a lot of unnecessary things haha
the internet has saved me loads of money off of free porn on another computer to forget about the virus.
Yes it does! I took a picture of it. The Internet Elders took it away from me because they thought I might drop it, or something. I don't know who has it now.. I hope it's in safe hands tho.
Thank you for ruining the internet! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dC-FOJ9dBB8"]YouTube - Psyschostick- Mail Enhancement
