in the 60s LSD started to change the youth, who seemingly started to care more about other people, less about money, and less about capitalism. my inkling is that the govt was scared of how that would effect them and they demonized lsd and other psychedelics in an attempt to regain sheeple. they seemed to have succeeded if that's the case, there are very few "dirty hippies" nowadays. this saddens me, because maybe we could have had less ignorant and media focused society as a result.
the government made lsd illegal as a schedule 1 drug under the pretense that it was harmful and had no medical purpose. this isnt true as the scientists that were testing it at the time found much use in therapy type situations.
do you guys think that it was made illegal due to its negative effects ( bad trips) or because people were rejecting the status quo?
if so, what can we DO about it?

Its made illegal because its dangerous to the government. Give someone LSD and theyll question something, if not everything, and what better than the body of crooked politicians that govern our lives. Its a hazard to the way things go because all you need is one person to say something is wrong. Given that person is a born leader, youve got more than just a problem on your hands.

Today, hippies are still around as much as they were before. We're just trying to lay low since its all illegal now. Still can go to music festivals like Bonnaroo or something, hell theres Burning Man. If thats not a hippiefest I dont know what is.

Id say eight out of ten of the people there are on LSD, poked smot, 2C-E, 2C-P, DXM, DMT, MDMA, mushrooms, and/or some other psychedelic substance.

We could offer ourselves up for study.

'Science' is still legal, even if magic isn't.

    No-one can ban a mushroom.

I poked smuts, is it like that? It feels like drinking hand sanatizer to get drunk... you get what you came for... but then the shame comes in.

Yes, hippies are considered contraband and should be disposed of immediately

People love when we are high, they feel great, but tend also to get a bit shy about it, that it's us that give them pleasure. I'm pretty sure we just need to be more patient with helping them to themselves. They're such babies that they ban what is thrilling in favour of what is comfortable.

Who's to say we don't have our own growing up to do too?

I still think our best chance is in appealing to the scientific community. Not to beg protection, we will never need to do that, but to gain the advantage of their objectivity.

I forget sometimes that there are children reading these pages.

Kids, the older infants like to say we're the future, but think hiding our toys will help.

It's as though they want us to fuck it up. I refuse to.

LSD is dangerous to governments, culture and Western, capitalist culture in particular. i believe Terence McKenna states it best - i will only be able to paraphrase.

1.) One of the primary effects of taking a psychedelic is boundary dissolution. All governments and cultures exist solely to establish and enforce boundaries and rules.

2.) Psychedelics clue us into something that the materialist, consumerist, capitalist culture wants to keep a secret - INCREDIBLE beauty, entertainment, knowledge and insight may be gleaned from the simple (& free) contents of our own minds . . . .

there isn't really much we can do but appeal through the mainstream channels. any kind of other act is only going to get crushed. try 5+ years for lsd possesion. the government is extremely powerful today.
