And now for something completely different: Tree hugging is a old exercise of the Shaolin monks, called the qian kun circle, it's used for the invigoration of the arms. Sorry, I found only a german source for this, may be, the spelling of the chinese names is different in english. Here' s the source
That depends what you call "the rain forests". It's not so much the trees; one problem with cutting down rain forests is the fact we could be losing many medicines we never knew exsisted; so many of our modern day medicines were found in obscure places in rainforests. There's so many thousands of animal and plant species we have not identified, yet we're already destroying them. Problems like that can be got around, but it's expensive. Just another thought for your mind....
everytime i´ve hugged a tree, i´ve felt something from it. you can feel all the power running through it from being grounded so well into the earth as it´s branches reach out into the sky. as you breath in, you breath in what the tree breathes out. as you breath out, the tree breathes in your breath. to come that physically close with something with indeterminable life... man!
Awwwwwwwwwsome, sounds just like what I would like to experience, not only would like the experience, I love nature, I love to swing on a hammock and look at the trees and everything else outside. I especially love the really really thick and\or tall trees. I went to someone's house one time and the person had a lot of property and open land with lots of grass and openess and about 3 or more huge huge trees , they were gourgous (sp).
Lots of grass hehe, they had the other kind of grass too, hehe. You can't get much better than being around nature high on grass, and music, those 3.....fucking awesome
I enjoyed the movie The Medicine Man as well. To go at it from that point of view, if we miss that special ingredient that cures cancer then from a non spiritual look at it, it wasn't ment to be. Lot's of hippies believe in karma and fate right? Guess fate decided against us finding some remedies.
But fate can be changed. It's odd that the necessity for living conditions now vastly outweighs the necessity for prolonging life... This only suggests that our world is becomeing overpopulated; what a world we live in... On a positive note, The Medicine Man was indeed a really interesting movie; ants being a cure for cancer? Makes you wonder what other organisms could be used to cure certain diseases; maybe a monkey holds the cure to AIDS...
I've never heard, or seen that movie... is it quite old? I've got a crap video store near me so i miss out on a lot of stuff Fate can be used as an excuse for a lot of things. If you kill someone, then claim it was "meant to happen" then is it supposed to be ok?
Oh people, don't bullshit... The only reason we still use wood paper these days is because of William Randolph Hurst and reefer madness.
Why not hug a tree? They provide you with oxygen, and shelter, and countless other things. Might as well thank them... Wow, totally didn't realize this was an old topic >_>.
i like trees. so i hug them. they take so much crap from us people, so i think a hug is the least i could do.
Unlike many people, trees don't freak out if you just run up and hug them. They just kind of stand there and take it all in. Unlike almost every person, they will also let you bear climb up and down them without complaint. You can even go sit on their head or hang around on their arms acting like a monkey and they're just fine with it. I like trees.
Trying to get back to her question...woah. Yeah you can get a vibe of a tree...they're alive. When you see a tree that grabs at ya when you look at it, like in your gut, go up to it...put the palms of your hands on it, close your eyes and talk to it in your mind...it'll answer back and you'll feel so centered and calm, its amazing... Meditate with Trees!
"How many plants would it take to equal that of one tree?" While this is not a direct answer to your thought... it takes 4 acres of trees to equal 1 acre of hemp.
I love hugging trees, it makes me feel I'm part of the earth around me..... beside, I'm a big hugger to begin with.. I hug almost every one i know when i greet them.. its called love for fellow humanity.. ((((hugs for all of you fine folks, regardless of your opinions))))
