The anti-hippie groups claim sarcastically that it looks like the foot of a chicken, as to insinuate that hippies were afraid to go off to war.

The origins of the swastika are pretty groovy as well. There seem to be several origins though. I've even heard there was one in a synagogue around the beginning of our calendar.

I see this question come up pretty often on the forums - im glad a reporter has confirmed what I have been saying all along about the semiphore. However they dont mention the fact that its a norse rune Algiz inverted.

Things have chilled out quite a bit.. (at least I'm not hearing gunshots anymore:))But the police never backed down last night, so I'd be willing to bet that this probably isn't over.. Or maybe these things just last a day, and then once the president escapes the hospital the police admit defeat and go home...idk

but, still in a state of emergency and whatnot, so I havnt left the house.

I've been on hipforums more in the last 24 hours than I have in the last month...:p

Interesting article. You really do learn something new every day. I can't say I ever knew when the symbol was designed or why it looked the way it did.

I will say I knew what I was told in various Prostestant churches couldn't have been accurate. I was brainwashed as a kid to think it was an upside down cross that was broken. Which is one of the more fucked up things I've heard.

I now proudly carry a peace symbol with me wherever I go.

Yeah, my school taught me that too and forbid anyone from wearing or displaying one for that very reason.

We so much take for granted here that we do not have these type of political and military situations.

    Stay safe.

The peace sign you make with your fingers started out as a military sign for victory, I don't know how it changed though.
