Hi, After watching the Spiritual reality:journey within movie ive got inspired and started meditating.I am a quite and peaceful person so the part where you have to turn off your thoughts and focus only on your breath was easy to me. The problems started when the breath starts to wanish and you get verry, verry high. Even when i smoked pot i never got this high, but im not proud of it, im not miditating to get high. So anyways when you get to the part where you get high and you dont feel your breath I start to panic and cant stay in that state for long because my thoughts keep coming up. Well i know that my body is breathing, i can feel like my belly and chest are moving but still, i feel like drowning or something, its really scarry. Any tips from those who had gone through this kind if meditating ? Also, the super high, does it end at some point? Because its really hard to handle it.. Is it because the cosmic energy is flowing in my body like they say in the movie ? Thanks alot for your atention!
Just relax man. You don't necessarily have to focus on your breath to get a good meditation session in. You could do a "body scan" meditation where you focus on every part of your body starting from the top of your head to the soles of your feet instead if you wish. You will gradually get better at focusing and concentration as you meditate more. It's very common for people new to meditation to get distracted by their thoughts, but don't give up! Try this: When you're meditating, note in your mind what you are doing. If a thought emerges, recognize and accept the thought, and put it aside for after the meditation. As you do this, you will eventually realize that it's useless to think of stupid shit when you're meditating because the only real moment is the here and now, and you can't fix all of your problems all at once, especially when you're sitting yourself down to relax and concentrate on the experience. Keep at it, OP.
Meditation is natural healing process. You don't need to shut your thougths off. Accept every thought as it is, greet it as if it was a friend. You don't need to emotionnaly ''holy'' or ''peaceful'' or even ''spiritual''. Accept every emotion, just like I said with thoughts. You do not act upon emotions while meditating, so it doesn't matter to others what you feel. Meditation is free zone. You can experience whatever you crave inside your inner worlds. Do Not try to Control your experience. Rather, let it happen. Just let it be. Let it flow, because your body already knows how to meditate. Meditation is written in the human genes. All you need to do accept everything that happens and pay attention to it. Do not make an effort, witness what effortlessness is. Because meditation is a natural healing state. Your body is as relaxed as in deep sleep, yet you're awake. So don't ''focus''. Just kindly be there. Be gentle with yourself, do not meditate to much. 10/20 minutes can be alot for a beginner. If you need less, meditate less. If you need more, increase, but very gradually.
I personnaly recommend you to actually give up any type of meditation that feels like a big effort, anything that feels unnatural or uncomfortable. Finds what suits your body and personnality.
I guess its your respiratory system. You got disease with your respiratory system. Meditation will never cause you getting high like smoking pot, I am sure of it. So I guess you have a long history of smoking weed. There are some residue still in your respiratory system. And focusing on the breath caused a fermentation or something. I said "disease", i meant "negative energy", dont worry about it. The illusion of "drowning" you had is still the problem with your respiratory system. I guess you must smoked pot a lot. This illusion will emerge again if those negative energy remain in your body. Next time when you meditate, imagine those dark energy get out when you exhale your breath. And the positive energy get in when you inhale and store in the center of your underbelly. Practice it more than 40 minutes each time. Go for a walk in the woods, there are many positive energy in the woods. It helps. Sorry for my poor English.
I know what you mean about the "getting high" aspect. I would recommend some grounding exercises first, such as - focus on your feet touching the floor -focus on your sexual energy - focus on your will so basically the first three chakras How about eating some meat? ..sounds like your respiratory system may need some attention like others have said or your blood sugar is too high or low, I noticed that when I was vegetarian I got soooo high from meditating it didn't feell good at all! OK so just remembered what Ihad read... Your belly button is "the" easiest place to focus your attention, actually many meditations start by your attention on your belly button first and go from that point.... so your belly button would be between the 3rd and heart chakra
Sounds like you need to breath deeper, this happened to me at first. For me it was simple childish fears of not being able to breath so i would get the sensation that i needed to gasp for air when i would let all the air trickle out of my lungs, and when i would breath in my muscles would be so thight in my chest area that i could not get even close to a full breadth just keep doing what your doing and eventually it will come -Much love Dis
Maybe you over focus on your breathing, what you practice is possibly something we call controlled breathing. It is possible that you are getting too much oxygen, and are feeling light-headed ;-) The breathing technique you should prakisere is to follow your breathing, not controlling breathing. Counting Breath.
