why is it that whenever i meditate instead of feeling this calm peaceful feeling i just feel bored.... i have been on various meditation cites and have tried many different forms of meditation but my result is always the same... boredom...
that's because meditation is boring. bores the hell out of me, but when it's overwith, i get a great peaceful feeling. the only time i was really able to get into meditation was at a buddhist temple and a catholic church...where someone was kinda guiding the meditation or whatnot.
boredome is sign of stressed out nervous system and opposite of enlightenment which is stress fee mervous system which enjoys the deepening quality of the moment. Lengthen your stride, slow down a bit in life, center the attention on the here and now, then go on, do that a bit all day. find happiness free of goal orientation or instead you cannot sit or be still enough due to goal fixation and disconnect within desire of conflicting activities.
makes me bored too... when i went to holistic health course thingy, we had to lye on the ground and meditate.. but i fell asleep every time!!
Meditation doesn't have to be boring. Surely there is at least one little thing that doesn't bore you in meditation. Find it and explore it. Don't meditate too much, nor too little. Find out what amount of time you need, maybe it's 30 secondes, maybe it's 20 minutes. You know. Also, if you fall asleep, that is good. It means your body needs more sleep. I strongly STRONGLY (yes, strongly) suggest you check out that guy. http://www.lorinroche.com/page72/page72.html
boredom could be a sign that your meditations aren't meeting your expectations. perhaps they need an adjustment? eace:
Perhaps you would like to try something different than meditation, or a different type of meditation? There are many different songs, dances, breathing exercises, visualizations and other things that can be as effective a spiritual tool as meditation. In the Kalahari they dance and dance until they fall into powerful spiritual experiences. I think this maybe a way more natural to most people. Certainly I've found get benefits from such practices which I never received from meditation and not much chance of being bored.
Turn on your music. During the first track, try to focus on the beat, and remove distracting thoughts from your head. You can use a variety of visualizations to achieve this. You may imagine a volume knob that you can slowly turn down until random thoughts have quieted, or perhaps envision a blackboard from which you can erase thoughts and distractions.
The reason it's boring to meditate; it is probably because you have not practiced meditation for so long. With practice, your ego will calm down .. ;-) Train yourself to not identify yourself with your thoughts and how much you want to be a completely different place, or do anything other than meditation right now. For example you can say this affirmation before you begin to meditate; I'm doing meditation this hour for myself, where i am not going to do anything other than deep relaxation and achieve inner peace. All of my activities, I can continue after this session ;-) Good Luck..
