A very good video game that uses a little poetic liscence but nonetheless is one of the most historical games out there.
Does it give insight in other things than strategy though? I never played it. I did play age of empires once upon a time. It was great fun but only historical correct to a certain point. I do love historical context in video games though. Especially subtile but correct without making the game feel like an history lesson of course. Not so much into strategy games anymore, although they may get more historical correct as games and genre involves.
It is one of my favourite games ever and I still play it occasionally and still learn something new everytime. Historically it is not too accurate but some parts they get right. There are "historical batttles" to play, where everything is set up to be just how it was supposedly in reality, too but I don't often play them.
well, i'm guessing that once we were all pretty much nomadic and that we're all descended for someone, somewhere, somewhen so who cares?
If you have not already have a look at Google scholar, and play around with different key word combination's. You may find some interesting full text articles. Google books may be of use as well.
