I've been reading up on the extraction method of dmt and I'm going to begin as soon as possible. I absolutely can't wait, but I'm a little apprehensive (in a good way) about how I will feel afterwards. Everytime I've tried any kind of hallucinogen its changed me in a profound way, and considering dmt is one of the most powerful hallucinogens in the world, I'm excited to see how it changes my perspective.

How is the way you view the world now different from before you tried dmt?

DMT has changed me in profound ways i cannot even begin to completely list. Here are some that come to mind immediately:

1.) Before DMT use i was a middle-aged burned out woman in the middle of a crisis where i was SERIOUSLY considering dropping everything - my career (that is not gone due to the economy), my husband of over 2 decades (still together), my life (for the first time ever, considering ending my life - though i would do something a bit less direct than the typical and a bit less melodramatic than "suicide by cop.")

i am now feeling much better and more stable. i no longer feel like running away. i have learned a lot about acceptance and in some cases, when appropriate, surrender.

2.) Before DMT i was addicted to opiates, muscle relaxants, sedatives and SSRI anti-depressants. i even drank booze occasionally. i no longer use any of these substances. It's not that it's reduced or "under control." It's 0%, no matter what, even when doctors/dentists try to prescribe/recommend.]

3.) Before DMT i was very depressed about the state of my body - diagnosed with osteoarthritis complete w/painful osteophytes in my 30's, tumors removed in my 30's (cannot have children), slowly but surely going blind. Other major concerns.

i am still concerned about the state of my body but not depressed. My body is in better shape and feels much better than it was/did before DMT use. i have not had an infection (including common cold) since before DMT use. For me that's a miracle.

i now understand that "body stuff" is not what it is all about.

4.) Before DMT, for about 40 years, i was a hard-core, stone-cold, dyed-in-the-wool, card-carrying (literally!) atheist. Endless people, books, molecules, churches, etc. tried to convert me. No success. One single, 5 minute DMT breakthrough experience did it and it stuck - it has not faded even after a lot of time has passed. i now understand that i have a soul and that it will survive the death of my physical body.

This was an incredible realization for an atheist. It lifted a huge burden from my mind, given how many of my loved ones died horrible deaths before i was even 25 years old.

5.) Before DMT, i had made many, many attempts, going all the way back to childhood, at writing a book. When i started using DMT i felt "possessed" and wrote a 300 (single spaced) page book in just under 45 days. Although not (fully) published or completely edited, i actually did complete it. A miracle for me.

6.) Before DMT, i didn't "get" art. i am still ignorant, but i "get" it so much more. Not only the power of it but the fact that the artist takes a piece of themselves, of their souls and puts it into the work . . . i now have a profound appreciation for all art, from the finest works to the cheesiest folk art to my 7 year old nephew's drawings of cats!

7.) Before DMT i had never had an out of body experience. DMT opened that door WIDE for me.

i will stop here, but this is not at all conclusive. DMT is the most magical, arty, spiritual, pushy, variable material i have ever encountered.

I have also been reading up on DMT extaraction and plant sources just recently and am very keen and also somewhat apprehensive to voyage. Thats an amazing lot of positives from DMT use, especially the not ending you life part and the complete stop of all those Pharm's

I started using DMT this year, I'm still an atheist but it I think it's shown me 'higher' or possibly even 'lower' levels of processing that we don't pick up on regularly. I feel our brains try to veil our visual/mental/emotional processing a bit to be in accord to the enviornment and to respond to stimuli appropriately to sort of maximize our ability for survival and functioning. I think DMT temporarily lifts that veil to the maximum degree that can be done psychoactively.

Thank you guys for your replies and thank you Meliai for putting the question out there. I think this is simply fascinating.

I've read of DMT for years... starting with Terrance McKenna. I was looking for descriptions of profound spiritual and psychological "breakthrough", ran across T. Mc and thought, hell, I'd like to try that.

I've "dabbled" in it recently and plan to "man up" with a breakthrough dose very soon. But these descriptions of how DMT changes a person aren't uncommon in what I've read.

    Well put all.
