Hello all, I don't want to break any forum rules about illegal drugs, so I assure you all that this is a massive lie and I would never really consider taking drugs Okay; it's been a long time since I've posted on these forums, so firstly, I'm very glad to be back. Secondly, I've recently started university (I'm doing a BA in Philosophy) and have developed a minor fascination with hallucinogenic drugs. I have always been scared of harder drugs and even some of the softer ones (such as MDMA, which a cousin of mine died from), but from what I've read and heard about the likes of acid, 'shrooms and DMT, they sound like very mind-expanding and thought-provoking substances. I've come to the conclusion that I'm only going to live once, and seeing as how I already drink and smoke then I may as well try a drug which actually does something good for me. Also, pretentious though it may sound, I get the impression that hallucinogens might actually help me with my Philosophy course. I know the dangers associated with the likes of LSD and psilocybin mushrooms, but I'm not at all worried, paranoid or anxious, so the likelihood of a bad trip should hopefully be lessened by that. I have a few questions I'd like to ask (I've already researched this, but a lot of drug-related sites are pretty rubbish): 1) In your experience, what is the ideal setting for taking LSD or 'shrooms? Or does it not particularly matter, provided you're in a secure and comfortable environment? 2) What are the main differences between LSD and 'shrooms besides the length of the trip? 3) Which music is it best to listen to? I love stuff like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix, but if anyone's got any strong recommendations then I'll definitely look it up. 4) Subjectively, in your experience, which is the best hallucinogen? Thank you all.
1) with friends taking them out in nature (camping, hiking, etc) with a beautiful view is ideal. For solo, shrooms at night mostly in your dark room, lsd can be really beautiful during the day solo with a nice scenic walk but can work at night as well pretty well. LSD at a concert can be good too but I don't recommend that for a first experience. 2) For me LSD is a more lucid, energetic trip while shrooms is a more cloudy headed, relaxed heavy trip often accompanied by nausea from digesting the shrooms. I often move/walk around alot on lsd, shrooms I really have no problem staying in one spot/room for hours. As far as visuals go and mindtrip go it can vary on many factors: set, setting, dose, potency, personal sensitivity to the substance, etc. 3) Shpongle is probably the best psychedelic band going. Its electronic music that range from ethno psytrance to organic ambient. Tales of the inexpressible is probably their most accessible album if you've never listened to this type of music, Divine Moments of Truth probably the best known song. Other notable bands The Doors Tool The Beatles Grateful Dead Incubus 4) I appreciate and value nearly all my psychedelic experiences but especially since there are alot of synthetic psychedelics today I think LSD is probably the best window into psychedelics and most complete psychedelic there is.
