sorry to use the internet but i can't find anything else really, are there any books about erowid(not sure if that is spelled correctly) LSD, LSA, other psychedelic books, like Mold on Bananna peels, orange peels, shrooms, stuff like this, please don't ask me to use the internet, that bores me, i dislike using computers, thankyou for helping out. (Edit) maybe a book that can be easily obtained, without the internet involved, i wil resort to the internet though.
Food of the Gods-Terrence Mckenna Breaking open the head- Daniel Pinchbeck They don't have anything about banana peels and crap but they have a wealth of information on LSD, mushrooms and various other real psychedelics. There is also a book called 'Tripping' I'm not sure who the author is but its various trip reports presented in a more erowid type fashion. I recommend either of those first two though .
Read the book 'The Doors of Perception' by Aldous Huxley. VERY interesting look at the psychedelic experience.
Im only 16 (not that it matters but the books i read might not appeal to you) Anyway i read a pretty cool book based in the 60's its not based around drugs but the dude is a hippie and he takes drugs on his little missions. im not very convincing lol but the book was a good read. heres the blurb thingo: It’s been awhile since Doc Sportello has seen his ex-girlfriend. Suddenly out of nowhere she shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with. Easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic sixties in L.A., and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” except that this one usually leads to trouble. Despite which he soon finds himself drawn into a bizarre tangle of motives and passions whose cast of characters includes surfers, hustlers, dopers and rockers, a murderous loan shark, a tenor sax player working undercover, an ex-con with a swastika tattoo and a fondness for Ethel Merman, and a mysterious entity known as the Golden Fang, which may only be a tax dodge set up by some dentists. Sorry if this is an old thread, i was looking for a good book to read myself, i finished all mine. Bump?
Go to your nearest University (preferably a research institution) and peruse their library's shelves for anything related to Psychopharmacology or Neuropsychopharmacology. Most of the books in that section will be general texts including things other than just psychedelics, but many focus on psychedelics and will give you real knowledge on how these amazing drugs work both objectively and subjectively (depending on the book). That's my best honest advice. I just picked up three good psychopharm books today at the UDel library (Morris Library).
Two amazingly good psychopharm. books I read in the last month are: 1. Psychopharmacology (Meyer)- an introductory text that anyone could understand- lots of pictures and really straightforward clear descriptions of any mind-altering substance you can think of. 2. Primer of Drug Action (Julien)- a more advanced, probably graduate level, text- not many pictures, but insanely detailed step-by-step descriptions of how any psychoactive works including probably the BEST descriptions of how LSD and Cannabis actually WORK that I have EVER read. It answered all of my remaining questions on how those substances create their interesting worlds.
