Well that isn't surprising given it was a prom.
Legitimate dancing is still popular with people who aren't like 14.
    Go to weddings, mad fun.

the last wedding I went to was orthodox Jewish.. and that dancing was a little too traditional (and foreign) for me =P

I was very surprised though. The most romantic song they played was 'Don't Stop Believing', and I was pissed cause the Pens were playing Detroit the next day!!
And the only one that I would've actually expected was Next's Too Close.

    I mean, Ridin' Dirty?!?

Its fun when you go to a club or a bar when no one is dancing, and you dance with someone random and have the time of your life.

Is polka popular at weddings outside of Pittsburgh?

If I have a ceremony when I get wed; I would definitely consider getting a polka band.

Why don't you two take some dancing lessons? You would probably have a real blast! :)

    :D haha,

yeah when you get of age most cities have anice choice of salsa clubs; some hoe downs ( four square style), don't know where to go for ballroom... but I have to admit after a few night of "legitimate" dancing, it's nice that I go easily go to dances were it is all freaking and bodies.

I actually was thinking about signing up for a free couples salsa class but the girlie didn't seem as enthusiastic and it turned out it conflicted with my class schedule.

    Excellent advice

At least around here you can take lessons for pretty much any dance style you can think of and there are constantly different shows with different dancing styles.
