Should women have the right to go topless in the same environments that guys are?

Hi all,

What do you all make of the recent topless demonstrations that took place in America in August? Do they achieve equal rights for women, or do you think that they are a public sideshow?

Does having equal rights necessarily mean doing the same thing as guys or wearing (or not wearing) the same things as guys? In Australia, most women think nothing of sunbathing topless on the beaches but most likely would not go topless in any other situation that guys are. You get to see more male semi-nudity in the mainstream press and prime time TV than with females.

I guess we are already allowed to go this way. I think there is no law against it. Social conventions and traditions the reasons you usually see us women covered. So the discussion is kind of obsolete. And i guess there was another tread on this topic recently anyway (just use the search function).

Why i respond though, is a statment in the second vid i consider as very very abjective: Women shouldn't go topless, as this would increase the chance to get raped. What a perverse logic!!! Not the committer is the guilty one, but the victim! Wow! You obviously forget that rape is a severe crime, no matter how the victim is clothed. With the same logic you can say all people should stay at home, else the chance to get shot would raise. It's really sad to read (or better to hear) such an attitude here on this board. But probably this vid comes from the land of the free, where they still have death penalty ... maybe i'd better shut up now.

P.S. Dario, i could subscribe most of your words. Maybe not the ones about the non-sense of fashionable clothing ;-)
But i didn't want to jump into the diuscussion, just thought i have to show my idignition about the hurtfull logic in the second vid.

 

They have the right to go topless where I live as far as I know. They simply choose not to.

 

Let them dress as they want. I don't care.

but then you left out that part and just put "anywhere they want"

so in places where it would be appropriate sure...like beaches..pools ...etc...

but in a restaurant where I'm having dinner with someone?...no

Where is the second video guy getting these sources? Sounds like made up crapola.

 

Some people are bored and it makes them feel better to protest absurd things like this. With this mix in dieing for attention.
As mentioned women pretty much have this right at the beach. I don't believe any law separates a topless beach from any other beach and we do have topless beaches in the US.
Won't get arrested but women don't do this because the amount of attention would almost literally be like being naked on stage.

I saw a couple of naked ladies last night.

 

There is more to women than their tits, dude. They may think it's special, but it's not. Just another part of the human body.
They also have personalities as well.

Women should be allowed to go topless. In the southern part of the US, it's hot in the summer. I see so many men go shirtless. And see women struggling in the heat. They need to air out those babies. I know women can't wait to go home to go topless in the heat. I'd wish everyone was more disciplined in the US. I wished we had no nudity laws in this country, like others.

 

At the end of the day good luck to them if they wish to go topless then that should be their perogative not up to anybody else once again what ever happened to freedom of choice .

Because some fat guys who can go topless in certain places have man-boobs which look strikingly similar to woman-boobs. It just doesn't seem right they can expose them and women can't expose theirs.

 

Hell, I'll sign a petition to give them those rights-you bet!

Men have this fantasy that women are just dying to get naked, but in present reality, this applies to very, very, very few.

 

In NH they have that right. Most don't take advantage. The police are ignorant and I'm sure no (most) topless women want to draw that much attention to themselves.

 

why not? - wouldn't it be lovely to go to a restaurant where all the women were topless?

Breasts are such beautiful things, I'd love to admire women around me.

and be4 I get shot at ........ I'd personally have no problem being bottomless in a restaurant, so long as the topless women accepted erections on and off.

That's really the difference isn't it - women can display their beautiful bodies w/o showing arousal whereas it is more difficult for men unless it is in a complete nudity scenario like a nude beach and sexual things are not generally on the agenda.
